Wim Fissette is arguably amongst TOP3 best WTA coaches ever so this could be potentially huge for Qinwen Zheng. She needed a change and this is one of the best options available out there.

Qinwen Zheng is the youngest and least accomplished player Fissette has coached since he coached Lisicki/Halep in 2013/2014.

I hope Wim can take QZ's game to the next level. This season, so far, has felt like a plateau in terms of results and performances. Letting some winnable matches out of her grasp and weird losses (especially the two in the slams) have made this season quite anti-climactic.

 

Zheng sleep walked her way to the top25 like a ninja, you keep forgetting she is there. They really need to get her more exposure and that can only happen at slams a select few masters.

Fissette seems to be best for mid-20 players who have an already solid core of playstyle, who just need a bit of polish and encouragement. Qinwen is not quite there yet, is she?

 

100% agree with this. I’ve never seen Wim as a quality coach who has taken a young player to the next level, more of a decent coach who has overseen an already great player achieve great things which they could have achieved with any number of other coaches.

I guess this is his opportunity to prove that theory wrong.

 

This could be very good. She needs better court sense and to be more refined.

Wow, I was actually hoping for her to hire Fissette, and she actually did! Still a bit surprised though. He is one of the best coaches in WTA and hopefully she'll learn a lot from him and rise up the ranking and start winning tournaments. Great news indeed.
