These are US broadcasting numbers, how „surprising” Coco (an American) attracts more viewers than players from abroad. What a lazy and trash piece of thread which only purpose is to shit on Iga.

Of course no one was watching last year's final :spitrofl:

It is great news for the WTA though. Women's tennis is really holding its own in the US these days and GAUFF came along just in time to help it continue.

Not a surprise here. Coco has been getting huge viewership numbers since she was 15 y/o at Wimbledon. Remember all her matches had the highest views.

There is a reason the slams put her on the biggest courts as a 16 y/o and 17 y/o much to the chagrin of many folks on this board and rival agents and stuff like that.

We get that Iga isn't a superstar at least not in the sense of attention and all of that. She had three or four slams and was making less endorsement money than players that didn't have any. I'm not going to bash Iga for it. This is stuff we already knew. That's just not who Iga is. There are many girls and Coco is certainly one of them if they had won four slams they obviously would be far more popular than Iga. That's just obvious.

And Novak is a man despised by half the public. While everyone in America was rooting for Coco. So those numbers aren't surprising. We just saw the same thing at the Washington Open. Coco had a huge crowd for her final. After she won and left the men showed up and played a final to basically an empty stadium. Why do you think she made 12 million in endorsement last year? Why do you think Leylah has 15 endorsements and 7 commercials running right now and she haven't won her first slam yet? It's no mystery here. If you are a charismatic, classy individual who always give the opponent for credit for winning like a Coco or a Leylah as oppose to some of these other girls who claim I lost because I was tired or she didn't win I lost. In short players like Coco and Leylah have huge fan bases in part because of their talent but also in huge part because of the class they exhibit. They never make excuses and always praise their opponent. It's called being a good human being which most people aren't these days but those that are like a Coco or Leylah are certainly benefitting from it financially.

I said it a million times most girls try to take credit away from their opponent by making excuses but really all they are doing is taking credit away from themselves.

Attention, attention, a great sensation! After 4 years of permanently hyping an American tennis player Coco by the American media, here comes a big American tournament, whose final with Coco is watched by 3.4 million of Americans. And it's almost twice as many viewers as were watching the previous final with a Polish and a Tunisian contestant, both completely ignored by the US media. Attention, attention, sensation, sensation - look what a huge impact the American media exert on the American viewer! Lo and behold!!!!!!

But what is 3.4 million? Polish ski jumper Adam Małysz was able to attract well more than 10 mln (20.6 mln in total; 11.2 mln on average) viewers during the Olympic contest in Salt Lake City. In Poland - a country that is 8 times less populous than the USA! 3,4 million viewers, about 1% of the entire US population - that's a big deal! Can't the OP see how ridiculous his "sensation" is?
