Now that Emma's participation on the Clay is done, we can now move onto the Grass season, and it all kicks off with the WTA500 HBSC Championships event being held at Queen's Club in London.

The tournament kicks off on Monday 9th June 2025.

It'll be a stacked 28-Player draw, with the Top 4 seeds receiving a BYE into Round 2.

Along with Naomi Osaka and Katie Boulter, Emma has been awarded a Wildcard, so her grass campaign will kick off in Round 1 here.

The DE player entry list is below :

The draw for the event will take place later this week and will updated in the relevant section below.

Emma will play her first match on either Monday or Tuesday of next week.

As always, the matches will be available to download in the relevant thread at the top of Emma's Empire. I'll try and get them uploaded as soon as possible.

I'll keep this thread updated with more information as and when it's received over the next few days in the run-up to the main event. As of now, any discussion pertaining to the tournament itself, Emma's involvement in it and even the qualifying matches can go in here.

The players (I'm aware of) listed in order of gElo.

5 with higher Elos than Emma, 11 with better gElos. Pretty sure that will look a little outdated by mid July.

Something seems off about Qinwen's number, lol.

The tournament is being broadcast live in the UK on BBC2 from Monday onwards, programme starts at 1pm (except Wednesday, when it starts at 2pm and on BBC1 due to a major political event). Presumably the 11am matches will be on the Red Button, iPlayer etc.

On the assumption that the BBC would like to guarantee Emma's matches being shown live on the main channel, this would mean Emma being third match on Centre Court on Monday or Tuesday.

Somehow Eala is given a higher chance at Wimbledon over the likes of Drova, Kenin and equal with Anisimova, Kostyuk, Kivitova and many other notable names.

Will Jon have her as a dark horse again?

You'd be stupid to put money on Eala at the moment. It's been well over 2 months and she's essentially showing the same main tour form post-Miami as she did pre-Miami.

Now that players and coaches know what to expect, and what areas in her game to target, match wins are not going to come easy for her.

Truly please to all the journos out there: continue in this vein of spotlighting everyone except Emma in this grass season, especially at Wimbledon. The less pressure on her the better
As it is she is all the newspapers will talk about for about 3 weeks non stop.
Focus on Eala yes
Focus on Draper, the world number 5 yes
Focus on Boulter, the British number 1 yes
Let’s Leave Emma out of it totally. Thank you

Here we go, it's starting.

It's a shocking placement, lot's of players have a week off after the clay season, particularly the top ranked players.
Might need to move it back a week and combine with the men, just have an event with NO doubles.

Does that mean Sonay will maybe get Osaka's WC?
Could mean Boulter got in via her ranking and doesn't need the WC anymore
They still have 1 WC available probably kept it for a "top player " (only announced 3 ) so now it is 3 with Osaka out.

It looks like Boulter was the next in. There was 1 spot available for SE=special exempt(in case a QUEEN qualifier makes it to FO semi) so it will be unused.

I thought that the tournaments can assign unused SEs as regular entries or WCs. Am I correct?
