"Tennis World Tour" - New video game from the creators of Topspin 4 announced

Imo this is probably as close to Topspin 5 as we are ever going to get.
A lot of the developers behind Topspin 4 are involved in this new project - including the Producer.

They are promising more than 30 playable tennis stars, including Kerber, Muguruza and Federer. For comparision Topspin 4 ony had 25 in total.

I am very excited because "Tennis World Tour" seems like a pure passion project! :worship:
Also I can't wait for to see how good the graphics are going to be  The last big tennis game was all the way back in 2011... Graphics have come so far since then.

The release date is set for 2018.

IGBEN AND BREAKPOINT STUDIO ANNOUNCE TENNIS WORLD TOUR

Lesquin, May 18th, 2017. Bigben and Breakpoint are pleased to announce Tennis World Tour, the new standard for tennis games, due for release in 2018 on consoles and PC.

In order to make the best possible game and match players' expectations, the studio has brought in an experienced team which has worked on the "Top Spin" license.

Pierre André, Game Designer on Tennis World Tour and former Producer on "Top Spin 4": "For years we've wanted to create a new tennis game, a spiritual successor to "Top Spin 4". Technical evolutions now mean we can create the ultra-realistic simulation that we've been dreaming of."

Benoît Clerc, Director of Video Games at Bigben: "We are proud to give to all tennis fans a game worthy of their enthusiasm. The level of quality, wealth of content and game mechanics will ensure Tennis World Tour is one of the best sport simulations on the market."

This desire to provide a faithful tennis simulation translates into demanding gameplay during rally, a wide range of playing styles and a strategic preparation that influences the course of each match.

In addition to that, Tennis World Tour lets you experience the career of a professional: more than 30 playable tennis stars including Roger Federer, Gaël Monfils, Angelique Kerber, Garbiñe Muguruza and many more.

More information about the game will be provided during Gamescom 2017.

Sounds great but do they have wimbledon?
The probably don't have the licenses for all the Grand Slams and other tournaments, but will recreate the venues using a fake name

It's been so freaking long since a decent tennis game was released. Virtua Tennis and Topspin was all the way back in 2011. I'll take whatever I can get :D

I've been saving to buy any of the newer consoles just for this moment. But if they have it for the PS3, even better. Nonetheless I'm ecstatic! I would literally check each month, typing in 'new tennis video game', 'tennis video game 2017', 'Topspin 5'. It was getting desperate.

Hope they can get Serena and some of the other bigger names on both tours. I know it can be tough to get all the licensing agreements due to how expensive it is but hopefully they can find a way to get the Slams in as well instead of just using the generic "Australia, France, England and USA" titles.

Yeah, that's my concern but if the gameplay is good and the world tour functions like in real life, a 52 week calendar of tournaments, then I'll be happy. It's not fair that fifa and nba fans get their simulation of an actual career and tennis has never had a game that simulates the real tour, it's just a couple of tournaments and a ranking ladder of 100 players only.

That sounds really good.
I hope they allow for cheesy PLAYABLE options, like cheesy shots.
Rather than allow people to take advantage of in game options that are sort of a delusional spin on real life tennis like that Top Spin 4's Monster Defense and whatnot.
It'll be really good to test out if there could be like grudge shot enablers for times when you're down or have lost many times to somebody.
Hopefully there won't be a Maria Sharapova.

I also want to point out that since (and of course this is a beginner idea sort of forum, heck remember The BrigayDeck) it is a sports game and that opens so many doors for fierce rivalries and most importantly DISAPPOINTING losses.

There definitely should be a crowd programmed to be knowledgeable of the times you've lost to someone online or the amount of times you've beaten somebody. There should definitely be a rumor circle, as there was for the other games, like the ITST tour, however these options should be IN GAME. People should be allowed to make tours without paying for a website and they should be able to allow players to participate in multiple tours.

This lowers the aggressive edge competitions do have, and honestly it creates a world where we can enjoy games for FUN and not just to live vicariously through a fucking TENNIS PLAYER. I definitely think tennis fans buy these games and play them well, it's not just us at InterTopSpinTour, allot of people can really live through these games without becoming obsessive and it's a good thing these games are coming out. Tennis is a popular sport.

THEY need the challenge system :oh:

I disagree entirely. I think most games are built around them being playable, especially sports game, and especially a sport like tennis where there are only up to four players and no equipment but a racket. Not only does the challenge system make the game less playable, it also puts forward the foundations of a game primarily built on luck, and the only way to put together a proper defense action mechanism is to allow the ball to bounce without the thought of whether they would challenge or not.

I feel the same about netcords but those could actually be implemented if this game, like Top Spin 3 and Tennis Elbow has a broad landscape of techniques and styles to choose from.

The challenge system could be an asset for mental games, like challenging on a ball to get into someone's head. But those games are childish and since we've moved on to better graphics it's important to make a sports game that is professional in it's dealings with competition.

The challenge system open a portal in which the developers will either say, wrong most of the time or right on balls that are rarely hit.

This is fun, but leads to problems with opening up your game for new strategies because allot of your strategies will be based around the challenge system.

Leave that to indie developers.

Makes no sense why your strategy would have to involve around the challenge system.

It works in a Football game so i'm pretty sure they can develop it in a way to make it work in a tennis game.
