I am surprised Samsonova and Gauff are not on this list. They are always here.

Tournament hold stats since 2015 which I usually use as a quick back of the envelope speed guide, generally medium conditions but on occasion can play fast, although this isn't player controlled data so a 28 main-draw, the field can change the averages a bit.

Funnily enough, on the two occasions Emma has competed in Washington so far, she's been beaten by the eventual champion in the QF of each event.

Wow, the dust has hardly settled and we're already onto the next tournament. No rest for the weary. Back in the USSA. I can't even think about hard courts while tennis is still being played in the cathedral of the sport. Maybe after tomorrow I'll start to work my way up to it, lol.

I checked out the prices for the USO and I doubt I'll be attending. $350 for a nosebleed seat is ridiculous, it's not the friggin Eras Tour for crying out loud. You can't even get a feel for the match up there. Might have gone to DC but I'll be away for a week.

I went 3 years ago. It's probably the best of the majors to see who you want, but overall not worth it. 1000s are much much better events to attend. Like back then, I made the mistake of getting a grounds pass instead of day Ashe nosebleeds. I'm looking at Ticketmaster now and like then the Ashe nosebleeds are cheaper than grounds even though the Ashe seat give you grounds access for day as well...for Day 1 Aug 25th it's $279 for a resale grounds as cheapest and $201.55 Ashe nosebleed day session. Both before taxes so presumably the difference is larger as taxes are a percentage. Still a waste of money. I think 3 years ago I paid half for the same tickets.

For AO this year, I got a grounds pass for $40 the night before Day 4 when I saw weather was good OOP was what I wanted (Kia Arena had Emma followed by Shelton followed by Tiafoe followed by Danimal). I was first in the gates and sat baseline lol. Best deal ever except it cost a lot to fly out there lol. I wouldn't be surprised if 500s like DC are even better than 1000s when it comes to value.

Yeah normally I get most excited about the part of the season starting with IW through Miami and the entire clay swing but this year I’m more excited about the American summer than I was before.

I really hope Emma builds on her recent results and has a strong remainder of the season. Not sure if there are any particular goals her team is aiming for but winning a title and finishing top 30 is very doable. Let’s go! 💪🏽

I have been in DC only once but I hope that next year I will be able to attend the tournament.
