Emma fought valiantly winning the second set TB after struggling with the humidity, but ultimately Pegula was just too strong for her in the end.

Pegula plays Eala tomorrow for a place in the final

Ridiculous standard. Easily the best quality match on the women's section this year. Emma needs to continue working on her fitness.

Fair play to Jess, played really well for most of the match.
Wow the stats really show what a clean and quality match this was. I can think of quite a number of ladies can hit more UEs in one match than the 2 of them combined here.

Great effort Ems. Had she finished the second off much earlier when she should’ve, she would’ve potentially had enough gas in the tank to still go full throttle in the third. Responded well though to not being at 100% towards the end of the second by playing a perfect tiebreaker from 0-2 down. Even had some chances early in the third but didn’t take them and then that was that.

Can be so proud of the last week though. 4 wins, one top 10 and another top 20, finding some of her best tennis again from the serve to the return to the composure under pressure. Lots to work with going forwards - hopefully this time she can finally keep some good momentum going and stay healthy.

Jpeg makes her first big event semifinal of the year. Playing pretty well, the best tennis of her iffy year so far tbh but still nothing spectacular (story of her career, really), will probably make the final here thanks to her soft draw during this fortnight. That said, both Skaya and Emma played at a high level and were not your average unseeded players.

Knowing Emma, the SF turnaround would’ve been a bit rough for her anyway. Onto Rouen now where the conditions will suit her the most of any clay event she’ll play this spring - and with no top 20 players in the draw, hopefully she can keep building more confidence and get her footing on clay whilst she’s at it too.

BJK Cup qualies first, which is also on indoor clay, so that will be ideal Rouen prep.

What a match! I’m sad bc of the result ofc but I’m proud of Emma and how she continued to fight when she started to feel unwell. She started to play better near the end of the first set, much more aggressive, and it was paying off in the second set before she started to feel it physically (probably bc of the humidity/heat) when she was 5-2 up. Still fought hard and somehow won the tiebreak playing really well. But the end of the second set gave Pegula a lot of confidence even though she lost it and then she was zoned in and going for it at the third set. She loves this tournament, so not surprised with another great run from her.
Hopefully Emma continues to improve and can carry this momentum to the next tournaments!

Raducanu can still play some serious ball when she's on! Please, someone get her to keep a real coach though. The good vibes bridgade seemed to work for here, but can't see that being sustainable.

JPEG not hanging around 3rd set -- great stuff. Imagine this thread will be a lot of yapping about nonsense, but that was a great match to watch!

I thought that she lost weight as well, although I never heard it being mentioned. Appearance wise she looks more fit than ever. It definitely shows up in her endurance level, as she was able to grind out points on long rallies. There were times in previous matches, where she couldn't get to a drop shot, but not against Emma.

Brilliant match from both, Jessica really upped her level in the last set, she was playing in the zone pinball tennis and unleashing DTL winners at will, it wasn't like Emma was giving away many cheap points.

Emma played really well, some of the best i have seen from her in the last 12 months, the consistent length of her shots put Jessica under so much pressure and her footwork was pretty good. She also played a close to perfect TB 2nd set to win 7 out of the last 8 points. If she carries on this level, she could go deep in other tournaments. Also for those who accused her of faking the MTO in the 2nd set, it dosent even make sense as she called for the physio/doctor when she was way ahead and under no pressure, playing superbly and winning point after point to get to 5-2. The rules only allow treatment at the next changeover after the doctor is called. Why would she disrupt her own momentum?

Probably the cleanest match in the tournament in terms of winners to UE's. Jess was 15 winners to 1 UE in the 3rd set. She saw the path to the finals was getting pass Emma, so she really didn't want to be make it close or force another tie-breaker. Not saying that Eala will be an easy cakewalk, but playing two lower ranked players to get to the finals is a great opportunity for Jess.

Successica took care of business tonight. Let the tennis gods say amen.

Raducanu had a good tournament. I still think she's way overrated and the worst grand slam winner in modern history. But you have to give credit where credit's due. Hopefully she can go about her business and try to improve without people writing drivel about how she's a Wimbledon favorite.

Thats how a top player problem solves

radu was up 5-2 in 2nd set, jess fought back holding off some set points. Still loses set so you may think oh what a wasted effort. But she stayed steady and radu is the one who tired out…. Which her match stamina is known at this point.

Emma put up a great fight. I could have sworn she was about to take over the match after she won that 2nd set tiebreaker. She was starting to dictate the rallies with some great depth and width on the groundies. But alas, it was Jess who raised her game in the third and Emma sort of went back to her safe shell. Not sure if she was tired but she definitely was not dictating anymore in set 3. Fun match. Jess gets to play the great filippina hype tomorrow. Can't wait to see how she does.

Great to see Raducanu with a more "natural" progression as I feel her US Open was so abrupt IMO...interested to see how Eala fares against a non-Slam champion :oh: (she already beat Volynets already though :lol2:).
