Very captivating match. Best of the tournament thus far.
Leylah battled to the end - overcame 2-5 3rd set deficit. Gritty.
Despite the many breaks, both players were playing very high quality tennis.

Ignore the unforced errors stat - that has been wildly off for a couple of months now (it wouldn't surprise me if they're stupidly using AI for this).

I've been only watching a few moments from the match and it looked great. Both ladies were hitting pretty hard, playing great in deffense and offense. I haven't seen Coco playing like that since Beijing last year. Sure, there were many DFs, but the overall level of the match was pretty high.

Love how frequently Fernandez came to the net in this match. Didn't always stick the volley but the willingness to close in there, instead of getting dragged into a long rally by Coco, is the right play. Once she finally got back to 5-5 she lowkey played a horrible game but her fight throughout that set was admirable.

Coco is honestly so messy for a top 2 seed, but she's truly hard to beat at sticking in a point, outlasted Leylah in a couple of insanely long rallies.

^ I strongly suggest that everyone completely disregard and dismiss the WTA's match statistics until such time as they improve the accuracy of such to the point where they match the accuracy they once had.

For the past 2 or 3 months, the WTA's statistics have been inconsistent and often wildly inaccurate. Perhaps they are experimenting with AI (which, of course, would be a huge and incredibly stupid mistake)... or they've employed clueless children to do the stats.
The winners/unforced errors stats over the past few months have been particularly ridiculous and inaccurate.
