As an Iga hater, I have to admit that we were all wrong!

I'm not the biggest fan of Iga and will normally root for the other player against her, unless she plays a flop like Sakkari or Elaine.

However, even I have to admit she got her shit together for the most part this year with stiff competition. A slam, multiple 1000s and a YEC to top it off. She deserves to be #1.

She also has improved her serve a lot, gone are the days when Danielle Rose could tee off on any serve, the only girlies who can do that now are Jelena and Elena.

Good luck to her in 2024, I just wish she'd fix her attitude.

Her attitude, cheating ,unlikable persona and lack of charisma on the court has always been the issue for me anyway.

As I've stated numerous times, way before she made it, her talent is immense.

Of course, she benefited massively from Ash Barty gifting her the number 1 ranking in an extraordinarily weak era. Also always manages to get easier draws but nothing can be done when your lucky like that.

The handful of times she’s got a tough draw she lost. USO, Rome, AO ect.

Not sure what the hell happened in Cincinnati and Montreal, felt like really strange losses at the time.

It's funny how people who hate Swiatek keep saying that Barty gifted her the top ranking and that Swiatek benefitted from a weak era. As though Barty was some kind of dominant champion like Serena who was winning two or three Slams each year. And didn't Barty play in the same weak era and still not manage even two Slam finals a year? And speaking of gifted rankings, are we forgetting the entire period of the Covid rankings freeze when Barty got to stay at #1 without playing at all?

If you want to call Swiatek a lesser champion than, say, Serena or even Henin, it's at least a fair criticism, but to criticise her and then act as though Ashleigh Frickin' Barty was some sort of dominant ATG is just ludicrous.

I really don't understand people who have an issue with Iga. She may not have an exciting personality or evoke any kind of emotion on court that draws people in but she's unproblematic. I don't know why anyone expected her not to win the WTA Finals considering the court conditions and the lack of a stable rival. Let's be honest, Sabalenka was a poor #1 and is inconsistent, Coco wasn't going to do anything considering their head to head, and the rest of the girls there were a non factor. Who in their right mind thought Pegula was going to win the final? It's laughable.

If anything I would love to see Iga have a rival who is at least on her back next year but this era is extremely weak in general. The greats always had someone on tour who could match them during marquee matches and the tour now just doesn't provide it so we get no tough competition.

She only won one 1000, seems like you were all right I guess

There are only 4 comparable champions to Serena: Graf, Court, Navratilova and Evert. Critiquing Iga for not being that at age 22 wouldn’t be fair criticism, it’d be dumb.

Lol, Naomi was a gift to the tour... It's tour that didn't deserve Naomi, not other way around...

Let's face it: for sad haters no one and nothing will ever cut it.

Even if Iga beat Holy Mary that would not be enough.
