I never saw a group of grown men act like a bunch of children. Their favorite word - “mug”. So many unfounded accusations about players, coaches, promoters, it just made me shake my head.

 

It's bizarre. I know there is like a "serious discussion" section or something like that, but most of the general messages board is just people trolling, trying to subtly one up each other about their "faves" which are mainly as you say Novak/Carlos/Federer/Nadal. A few might like Murray or Sinner but any other player is at best a "mug" or otherwise, you would think any other players on tour had committed crimes against humanity just by daring to play professional tennis. It's nauseating on GM, although other parts of the forum are slightly better.

This identical member count might suggest that both forums share the same user accounts, but that's not the case.

 

MTF had once a very diverse user base, that went down seriously after 2019. The numbers are true, however some posters on MTF posted way too little. Here we have many posters above 50K+ post count, while on MTF we have like a few similar ones among active posters.

 

Only a few legends are active on both wings: @guitarra @Sombrerero loco @FilipoSVK @Litotes and myself come to my mind.

It is now mainly for rabid Sinner and Djoko fans since the retirement of Nadal and Federer. But many Serena/Maria and others have left here

I hardly watch men's tennis anyway. It's boring, serve is everything. You'll never see a 7-5 score with 10 breaks of serve in an ATP match unless both players have shoulder injuries. The variance and unpredictability is what makes the WTA more fun to watch.

How can serve be "everything" when courts have been slowed down in a tour dominated by the likes of Djokovic, Sinner and Alcaraz, and before them, the Big 3/4 of whom only Federer would be seen as an all-time top server? You seem to still retain the stereotypes from the days the likes of Sampras were dominating in quick conditions.

Despite being a bigger fan of men's tennis, I don't post there often. Far too many infantile trolls. "Federer is a weak era mug.......Nadull......Novax...blah..blah...blah"

Used to lurk there for some time' and probably watch more of men's than women’s tennis' but never bothered to make an account. TF is not perfect' but the level of the discussion is miles higher here than over on MTF.

 

The level of discussion can be very low on both boards. Real tennis analysts are much rarer at both places unfortunately. Having observed both for 10+ years has given me too many unpleasant experiences, due to excessive hating though.
