Bibi, Kenin, and Sloane need to go on vacay and have a good cry together. At the moment for these 3 winning a GS again is getting further and further away.

Hopefully they’ll prove me wrong next season

She's in qualies for Wuhan. :sneaky: (y)
that's great to see her trying to qualify for another WTA1000 event. Wonder if she could squeeze in a WTA125 that's in China or Asia prior to Wuhan?

Good points. I guess I’m moreso surprised by how sudden the drop-off was. I personally wouldn’t have believed it if you told me she’d still only have 3 titles after the 2019 season
It's surprising, given she managed those three titles in between serious injuries. She was largely out with injury between Miami and the Canadian Open, then won that an the US Open, and then injured her knee during the WTA Finals which kept her sidelined until 2021. I figured she'd have injuries but also some success when she was injury free, but she's injured too much to get any momentum going.

Yeah but her gaps seemed to be slightly less than 6 months (some of which was the off-season but I guess that doesn't matter) and I think she was ranked outside of the top 100 last fall anyway.
The PR started at RG 2024, but keeps getting frozen due to different injuries + the mental break she took at the end of 2024.

She messed her whole comeback by returning at RG 24, rather than waiting for Wimbledon and keeping the second slam PR for AO. It’s clear she thought she’d have enough points for direct entry into AO this year, but her results post-Wimbledon last year were nothing short of awful.

Andreescu is just constantly on a road to nowhere. Can’t stay uninjured long enough to gain any real momentum.

It’s really sad because she may not have been looking like an elite player but she was at least looking good enough to keep herself around as a second-tier player (think Raducanu, Osaka, or Kenin’s current position/ranking) and in the conversation in early 2023 before she got injured against Alexandrova.

Sloane and Bianca are OBVIOUSLY done.
Nothing ranking wise or tournament wise says any different.
Sofia is Top 30 and looks wayyyy more likely to get another Slam, at least than the other two.

Bondar :cheer: Solidly in the top 100 now and should stay there pretty comfortably until the AO if she keeps playing like this.

Good to have Andreescu back back again. I do think her tennis desperately needs a few uninterrupted months of grinding it out on the tour. Hopefully she can physically and mentally handle sticking around for a while this time; her career is getting way too Bouchard-like, it is depressing.

I like her but I think it's time to accept that her career as a relevant player is well and truly over :tears:
