Zuzana Zalabska is another player on the comeback. She'd won two ITF doubles titles before disappearing from the circuit in 2008. She reappeared this summer, better than ever. In fact, she won her first ever ITF singles title in her first tournament back, at the 10K Piestany, Slovak Republic on clay. Entered as a qualifier, she defeated the No. 1 seed Paula Kania in straight sets, along the way.
She reached the finals of her next tournament, the 10K Vienna, Austria on clay, defeating the #3, #5, and #1 (Iveta Gerlova) seeds, in succession. She fell in the final to former double partner, and another comeback player, Lucie Kriegsmannova.
In her third tournament, she upgraded to the 25K Trnava, Slovak Republic on clay. Again entered as a qualifier, she reached the semifinals, taking out two seeds along the way, before falling to #1 seed and compatriot Sandra Zahlavova.
After Trnana, she re-entered the rankings at #579.
In September, she entered the 10K Antalya, Turkey on clay as the #2 seed. There, she reached the finals before falling to the No. 1 seed, Viktoria Kamenskaya.
Zuzana won the 10K Bad Waltersdorf last week, upsetting the top three seeds, including #1 seed and fellow countrywoman Diana Sumova in the final! This was Zuzana's first title since 2011, and third career title.
Here was her full run:
