Na, being serious, Zheng is very good at getting balls back and making players play that extra shot. This match did remind me a bit of their Dubai match earlier this year, where SaiSai won 7-5 in the third.
The main problem with Zheng is that she lost in R1 of all 4 slams, as well as Indian Wells and Miami, so she has 6 10 point counters which she has to post on her tally, therefore when she does go on a fairly decent run like here, the 100 points gained are replacing 60 points from other non mandatory events, in this case the 60 points for that aforementioned win over Alja in Dubai, and therefore she is only gaining 40 points.
Was a pretty fun match, even with the chokes and exchanges of breaks at the end there. Ajla was bulldozing it for the first half, pretty peak stuff. I'm not surprised she beat Kiki. She was cramping and tired at the end (understandably) but SaiSai was frazzled, lost some weight and depth off her strokes, and couldn't take advantage.
Ajla was playing some outstanding stuff to start the match. But she let Saisai’s game and the crowd get to her and then the momentum shifted and it was a huge battle. Good to see she mentally prevailed.
Saisai  Good week and it was great to see so much support for her!
