You know what I've found weird about Zheng? I remember in Doha in 2004, she beat Dokic second round and sort of challenged Myskina in the quarters, and Jelena and Myskina were both astounded by how amazingly hard she hit. But, I've seen her play, and she just doesn't, so I wonder why they said that?

Exactly^

Also serve speed isn't always a good judgement of a good serve. If she slices her serves that's also really effective.
She definately doesnt have a slive serve...Saw her matches at watson challenge..Even mirza serves look better than her serves...

That's true. I've watched Zheng against Davenport and she smacking the ball but had no consisentsy. Yesterday there were spells but most of the time she was putting the ball in with not too much pace.

She reminds me of Evgenia Linetskaya :)

Umm, no her serve is not bad. Just because it's slow you shouldn't automatically assume it's one of the worst in the top 100. Look at Aniko Kapros.

I think Jie has a pretty unique style, she's been constantly changing her serve for a while now and I saw nothing wrong with it at the Australian Open doubles final.

i don't know how good/bad her serve is. but by judging whether her serve is the worst of the top100 purely on pace alone isn't really accurate, no!?
i know she has one of the slower serves from d wta but speed isn't the only factor that determine how effective it is. Placement/accuracy, consistency, strategy(knowing which serve to use against diff opponets) and variety of serves to choose from(kick, spin, slice, body etc.) should be considered.

No doubt the serve is one of d most important part of tennis, and jie 'might' own the slowest serve in d top100 but a fast serve doesn't necessarily means its a good serve!
