MY COMMENTS:

Karin KNAPP: 1rst SF on the WTA tour for that recent revealed italian talent at Budapest Tier III. She ousted 8th seed/n°65 compatriot Oprandi en route before falling to surprising qualified teenager n°325 Cirstea.

Timea BACSINSKY: It has been a while I haven't quoted Timea. She's back this week breaking a new record after winning the ever 1rst $100K on the challenger at Cagnes sur Mer. Timea found back a penetrating timing upsetting 2nd seed/n°70 Vesnina and 5th seed/n°86 home favourite Pin en route before overpowering talented n°127 Malek.

Tatjana MALEK: She's one of the in form rising german girl and is now close to break the Top 100 after being runner up at $100K Cagnes sur mer challenger ousting 8th seed/n°104 Ondraskova en route before falling to n°138 Bacsinsky.

Casey DELLACQUA: Will Casey be the newt australian to crack the Top 100? Anyway, she's doing her maximum competing almost every week since a couple of months on the challenger circuit. She's up this week after reaching the final at Calvia $25K 2 weeks ago losing against clay specialist n°138 M.J Martinez.

Agnes SZAVAY: Huge jump for Agnes who reached her 2nd career WTA SF (after Modena in 2005) atBudapest Tier III. She proved that she deserved her WC upsetting 7th seed/n°55 Likhovtseva and 4th seed/n°41 (wo) before falling to 6th seed/n°50 and eventual winner Dulko.

Iona Raluca OLARU: Iona Raluca is breaking the Top 150 after winning her 1rst ITF event at Torrent $50K after a great fight against n°175 in final. She's one of the best progression of the year (finishing outsinde the Top 300 in 2006!)

Andreja KLEPAC: Steady rise for Andreja who reached the 2nd rd a Budapest $175K as a qualifer. She ousted n°103 Czink before losing against 4th seed/n°41 Loit.

Ekaterina IVANOVA: Anither russian who's progressing step by step. Ekaterina reached the SF at Torrent $50K upsetting 4th seed/n°143 Ani.

Julie DITTY: Julie is playing her ever best year at 28 y.o. Last week, she won her 2nd ITF title of the year ousting 2nd seed/n°105 Gallovits and 3rd seed/n°98 en route and n°201 Perianu in final.

Andrea PETKOVIC: Andrea is another german up coming talent. She's up 10 places this week after reaching the final at Torrent $50K.

Sorena CIRSTEA: Sorena joined a group of 5 girls born in 90 and ranked inside the Top 200. She's the hugest jump of the week from n°325 to n°169. She made a breakthrough at Budapest Tier III reaching the final as a qualifer!! In the qualies she ousted Top seed/n°152 Savchuk and then successively 2nd seed/n°35 Muller and 5th seed/n°44 Daniilidou en route before losing in 3 sets vs 6th seed/n°50 Dulko.

Olivia SANCHEZ: Olivia keeps rising after making the 2nd rd at Cagnes sur mer $100K falling to 5th seed/n°86 and compatriot Pin.

Evgenia RODINA: Evgenia is on the step of the russian armada. 2 weeks ago, she was SF at Calvia $25K upsetting 3rd seed/n°169 Cetkovska before falling to 2nd seed/n°138 and eventual winner MJ Martinez. Last week, she made it to the 2nd rd at Torrent $50K losing to 4th seed/n°143 Ani.

TOP 10 and 20: NO CHANGE

TOP 50:
Gisela DULKO n°34 (+16): She's been struggling a little bit with her game in 2006. She won her ever 1rst title last week at Budapest Tier III $175K beating surprising 17 y.o prodigy Cirstea in final.

Absolute dream week for Romanian tennis :bounce:. That country has alot to be excited about tenniswise.

Also glad to see Timea finally creeping closer to the top 100. Should be a direct entry to Wimbledon now :).

Well, this week she's playing at Gifu $50K challenger and she's 2nd seed...50K challenger are allowing a big amount of points...if she's making to the final...she'll be closer to the Top 100!...so who knows...if she keeps playing like that, she could get a direct entry at Wimbledon.
