In honor of the WTF finals coming to an end and Nadal battling like crazy, getting YE.1, WINNING his final match but still losing out in RR stage due to a straight set loss earlier...........what are some of your memories of crazy scenarios in the WTA Finals?

2015 Red Group : Ana Ivanovic
Blue Group: Maria Sharapova
Going into the final RR match they both hold their fortunes in their own hands. Ana needs to beat Halep in 2 sets to block Serena Williams from Qualifying. Maria needs to beat Agnieska Radwanska in 2 sets.
-Ivanovic beats Halep, but drops the middle set 63 and thus loses because her , Serena and Halep all tied 2-1 but Serena and Halep won both their matches in straight sets.
- Maria beats Radwanska but drops the second set in a tiebreak!!! Oddly enough, Radwanska then gets into the SFs despite Sharapova winning the tie (Head to Head) because in the case of a 3-way tie (Kvitova also went 1-2) it goes down to sets won and lost , then down to games.....and that 76 set not only gave Radwanska a set but therefore more games won.

2004 had a few pretty wild scenarios of i recall ( including Myskina winning a group that had Serena and Davenport in it, IIRC).

That was 2014, but yes that was a funny year. Serena had one of the heaviest losses of her career against Halep in the groups. Simona and Ana wind up keeping Serena in it, and she demolishes Halep in the final.

The Halep/Ivanovic result also played a key role in Fisette and Halep splitting. Definitely one of the most memorable YEC RR scenarios.

Serena v Venus 2009 Round Robin match was epic Serena saved a match point at 6-5 down in the 3rd Set then won the match, 2014 Semi-Final against Caroline Wozniacki was also wonderful again Serena won the match. Kim Clijsters winning the 2010 Final in 3 Sets against Caroline Wozniacki, Venus demolishing Vera Zvonareva after losing the first set in the 2008 Final and both her 2008 & 2009 Semi-Final matches against Jelena Jankovic.

Los Angeles, 2003.

Mauresmo was packing her bags as Chanda Rubin was leading 6-4 5*-2 against Dementieva and she was on her way to eliminate both of them. Rubin lost 4-6 7-5 6-1 and Mauresmo made it to the semifinals. She beat Henin but ultimately lost against Clijsters in the final.

Yes, that 2014...

Ana was 2-5 down in first set, too. Comes back to win the set 7-6 but Halep, instead of just letting it go and keeping Serena out, decides to fight. Ana wins in 3 sets but doesn't qualify. Halep gets the bite from Serena in the final.

:crying: I really had a gut feeling that Ana would have won the whole thing if she had not lost that one sad set against Halep...

A lot of situations were very interesting. I remember when Radwanska needed 1 set against Kvitova. I remember the 2010 final when Clijsters was down a break in the 3rd and still won

Pennetta played her final career tournament in Singapore (2015). She was up early in the set against Sharapova, and the win of one set would have seen her through to the semifinal. She didn't make it, ended her career and only in this constellation allowed Radwanska to progress to the SF. Radwanska ended up winning the tournament.
