hi i'm a new member to jenn's den so i'll get the ball rolling with my 1st post..
not has jen won the sports illustrated sports woman of the year this past week but she has notched up the title of ITF world champion, lleyton hewitt won it in the men's catagory...this title is usually awarded to the player at #1 at the end of the year, but not this time....
it just goes to prove that jen is a class tennis player all the way winning 2 gs this year..
keep up the good work jen

Welcome to the Den Naomi and thanks for the news about Jennifer as ITF champion.

Makes you wonder how disillusioned the ITF are with the WTA ranking system if they have deviated from it for the first time in a while. Nonetheless, more awards for Jenn, and a great one at that

What a Great News!!

Getting another award is a bonus to Jen's tennis career!! We all know clearly what she has been achieved in the past 12 months!! It's just nice to see her determination back in tennis again!!!

of course this award will be a great moral boost for jen, have you noticed that her confidence has greatly improved since winning the aussie open.
in all fairness, if the itf title had been decided on end of year rankings, i do think that alot of ppl wud question if it was a very good decision handing lindsay-d the title of w-champion, most ppl will agree that jen unquestionably deserves it for her hard work tru-out the year, no disrespect to lindsay's end of year results in filderstadt, linz and zurich. but we can all agree that jen worked hard for it taking part in all 17 wta tourneys. also not forgetting that she did reach the semi's in the us open and wimbledon.
naomi

It is only the third time the award has not gone to the end-of-year #1 - Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Chris Evert were the other exceptions in 1978 and 1994 (I think those years are right!).

Just shows how good they thought she did this year, even if the computer doesn't agree
