Nadia Petrova beat Ai Sugiyama of Japan 6-1, 7-6 (2) Friday to reach the final of the Qatar Open. Top-seeded Amelie Mauresmo and Martina Hingis were scheduled to play later Friday for a place in Saturday's final. The second-seeded Petrova broke Sugiyama's serve in the second and fourth games of the first set.
