Have to commend both players. I enjoyed that. Well done Coco. She fights, always does and today it paid off! Another shiny new, big title under her belt.

Lmao. Child. I know the Tennis Forum queens are mad as hell Coco has won a slam and 1000 this year.

Girllllllll..........
In my whiny tennis purist voice: “That forehand will never win big titles. She’s lucky Jess slayed all the beasts for her and ran out of gas. Coco’s lucky she had the favorable draw and faced a gutless opponent today.”

JPeg never really wins by overpowering Coco; the matchup is always on Coco's racket. The issue is that Coco has some vulnerabilities, and Jess is best equipped to exploit them, as she's incredibly consistent from the baseline (notice how consistent players have greater chance of beating Coco than relatively erratic pros even if both are elite). Jess can play aggressively without making as many UEs as other big hitters, and that's the perfect way to get Coco to implode with double faults and forehand going off the rails.

One tournament means nothing Cori has got to do it consistently And if she can do that then she will be a regular winner

Heck yeah!

Coco playing the beautiful tennis we ALL love.

Like I always say if Coco just plays 70% she spanks everyone on the WTA tour without too much trouble.

By the way this match shows why Coco stopped playing doubles with Pegula. Just horrible when it matters most. No ability to step up to the plate and deliver.

Anyway all is right with the world now, at least the tennis world. The only thing that could be better Leylah winning next week.

That' the thing about Coco, no matter how badly she may have played in the previous round, you just know that she will always be a threat. Giving herself a chance by just sinking her teeth into a match. A lot to be said for it.

The point at 5-5 in the 2nd set when she was serving at 30:15 was impressive - she could have easily sprayed one out but just outlasted jessica, which is no mean feat!

Who suggested that Coco, at age 21 and after winning RG this year, was done? Those people don't know much about tennis.

I don't like her game and often don't root for her, just like I didn't enjoy Wozniacki's tennis either. But her super-retriever style combined with power is effective against a lot of players. She continues to prove that. Congrats to her.

9-0 in hard court finals! And finally wins a 2nd title of the year, nice speeches for each other and a good result for the tour.

Jess sort of faded in the legs and threw a strong lead set 2, too many three setters? Coco's supreme athleticism helps her thrive (lol) at the end of the season where others are feeling a bit fried physically and mentally. I just hope that serve can look a bit more confident at the YEC. :unsure2: But it's a good sign for her longevity that she can turn around and win big titles while navigating these struggle tennis periods she has.
