I think the complete schedule will be released a couple of weeks after the year-end championships.

I was mistaken; the complete schedule is available, but it is subject to change. I saved it, but if you want to save it, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader (I have 5.0).

One thing's for sure: the ladies have more than enough time to set their itineraries for 2004 and avoid any "scheduling conflicts"..... ;)

It is so funny how they say indian wells and miami are a week later- they aren't...The australian season starts later- well not even that-it must be the way the weks fall.
What is odd is now it goes straight frmo Miami to Charleston- no break in between- I think Charleston and amelia Island will loose quality in their fields.
where has Sarasota gone?
I am glas Budapest has moved to the 'hard core' European season.
Apart from Canberra/hobart and Sydney- it is crap that they have 3 events in the same week. what isworse- why is Memphis a week out of the Us spring season. Maybe its is b'c of the mens even- but it makes no sense at all to have Memphis- week off in USA and then Scottsdale...
It is good Fed Cup 2 is right after Wimbledon- but which is Palermo all by itself again?
Palermo should move to either the same week as Montreal- so 3 clay court events are together or maybe the same week as Berlin, so 2 events in Italy are together and gives moe options in the 'hard core' European sason.

The other option I think- and it may be restricted to mens evenst- is to put Estoril and Casablanca in the same weeks as Rome and Berlin and move Bogata and Acapulco into the same weeks as Charleston and Amelia Island. This would be great- no break up of clay events. Other then the mens tournies- weather may be the other problem. Is istoo late to play Bogata and Acapulco in March weather wise?

At the end of the season- why not have Linz/Quebec and Philly/Luxembourg together? It would be good for Lux and Quebec b'c they may attract higher ranked players b'c they would want to play in that area. It also makes sense to have 2 weesk back in Northern America at the end of the season as well....
It really shits me that Pattaya is at the end- of the season. Why have an end of season champiionships when their is aother tounir the same week??
It would be ideal to have it the same week as MOscow. Even better- the Asian season should be
Tokyo-Shanghai-Bali-Pattaya-Tashkent. Geographically is makes sense anyway.

Idf they want to amke the season shorter- why not push all Shangai and then all other events a week earlier and then have fed cup final the week after the Championships? It would then give everyone time out from mid november (so the complaining players who are 'exhausted' to play exhibitions!!!)

My question to the WTA: Why isn't Antwerp a tier 1 tournament? With the attendance, and TV rights, Antwerp is probably making more money than most tier 1 tournaments.

I remember this years semi's and final's each draw a crowd of 15000 plus.

Somethings wrong here, people!

couple of suggestions
1. schedule change for Down Under....
move Hobartto the same week as Tokyo
to strengthen Canberra's field, so that Nicole and Alicia
can play all the tournaments, and the Asians
will strengthen Canberra as well....

2. move Sopot to the week right after Palermo,
with Palermo being on that spot, lone European tournie
before Montreal and right after Fed Cup
if you want to make Montreal/San Diego into Berlin/Rome combination,
the Sopot has got to be moved to the week after Palermo
and make sure the both Tier I weeks take up 56/48/28 draw

3. put Cincinnati back a week,
i dont like the thought of people who cant make New Haven
have nothing to warm up on before US Open
as many Europeans will come from Greece with
no experience on hardcourt.......

4. exchange Quebec City and Luxemburg,
Quebec is traditionally weak, now it's right beside
a Tier II in America, worse, the European season ended already,
it's better to have Quebec preceding Phildelphia,
and Luxemburg following Linz

5. move Memphis to the same week as Shanghai,
Americans dont really travel to Asia,
so give them another tournament to play afters,
plus, it's not good for Memphis to occupy 3 tournament week

6. i would love to see the new ITF calendars soon,
the higher challengers dates should also be reviewed
for the sake for lower tier tournaments

7. if possible combine Swiss and Russian Open week
into one like Berlin/Rome to make it Indoor special
if the drawsize can be expended with available courts....

8. the Olympics this yr cut down the possibility of
extending the gap b/w RG and Wim.......
but Fed Cup following Wimb.....
that'll affect the field of Fed Cup teams and indirectly Eastbourne,
so they need to look at that

9. with the insertion of Olympics, the tour has become 11 full months,
with only one month to spare, Sydney next yr will probably be hurt somewhat
but we'll probably a lot of players retire, also 08 Olympics might be moved back
so extending the gap b/w Wim and RG will probably mean
sacrifice of European hardcourt tournies

10. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY US TOURNAMENTS.....

There are not way too many US tournies. Tennis just doesn't sell as well anywhere else, because we have the most money. DEAL WITH IT! TENNIS IS A BUSINESS, WHICH MEANS THEY GO WHERE THEY MAKE THE MOST MONEY.

no more sarasota?
Sarasota is no more for this yr cos there is ONE less week between Miami and Roland Garros due to the Calendar Changes.
possibly could return in 2005.

The Bol tourney that moved to Cincinnati, can anyone tell me who played in that tourney last year or this past season? I live near Cincy and want to know who to expect to see show up next year?

Vera Zvonareva, Patty Schnyder, and basically, all clay courters.

But, it's on hard court next year, so expect some top players, who won't make the Olympics.

I wouldn't expect anyone real big.

Thanx. :)

CB means that Bol was played on clay, so, mostly clay courters will play the event. Not many top players, not any Americans.

But, since it's moved to Ohio, there will be Americans, but still, not many top players because of the Olympics the same week. You'd be lucky with anyone in the top 20.
