Thanks for posting that Infiniti. I read that in the LA Times today. I find it interesting that when the question was asked about when and against whom this kind of investigation has been conducted, the "no comments" started to fly.

To me that's a major tip off that it's a bald faced lie. This is strictly a plot against Venus and it WILL backfire on the WTA.

Goody, goody.

ITA!!! (I couldn't agree more) Let's hope that they begin a consistent program of verifying injuries and putting out news releases from now on

I can understand why the WTA are pissed off. This investigation has to be the worst way to go about solving the problem, though. It's clearly not an established rule, and it makes them look like they're persecuting Venus (wouldn't go so far as to say it was a plot... it's in their interest that Venus is successful, they don't want her to be a failure). And even if - hypothetical situation - Venus was faking, they wouldn't be able to prove it anyway. My suspicion is that Venus has been affected quite badly by her parents' divorce. Serena said she had 'issues' - she's clearly got some personal stuff going on. And that's a perfectly valid reason for her not to show (even if it screws the rankings). Whatever, the WTA have been singularly stupid over this. Their hype of Venus and Anna five years ago has backfired spectacularly - they're the only players people want to see now. Maybe if they'd marketed others as well, tournaments wouldn't have to depend on these two players.

I disagree sarista7.

Venus and Anna are not the only players that people like to see. You left out Serena

Also I believe what Serena said in her interview. Her tone clearly says it all. Venus is injury prone... WE all know that.. so why are people surprised when her tendonitis flares up? It wasn't that long ago when everybody said.. " Venus is always hurt, Venus is always injured" Now when wrist flare up it's like .. WHAT IS GOING ON?

ah well only time will tell.
