After conveening a tennis tribunal against the best player on the tour, VENUS WILLIAMS, the WTA should involve itself in some damage control to restore its credability that was deminished after that pointless debacle.

VENUS does not seem likely to play Indian Wells in 2002 and her appearance in the Tour Championship will be doubtful unless she receives her private apology, because she will not receive a public one, from the WTA officials.

If she hadn't helped created the image of someone who pulls out every time it suits her, she wouldn't have been investigated. Are you saying she should be rewarded for not helping the tour as she can be expected to?

Teerexx: though we tend to never agree on much of anything, welcome back...or welcome here, whichever way you'd like to look at it.

However ,I tend to agree that the WTA did lose credibility on this one. Unfortunately I don't know if they see it the same way, and can't see them giving her a much deserved public appology.

Even if Venus does pull out of tournaments more often that some players, itdoesnt mean she is the only one who does it, nor should she have been the only one investigated.

The whole thing was a terrible PR move on behalf of the WTA.

I'm sure some exec or another at the WTA already make apology after apology. It's the corporate thing to do.

As for Indian Wells, the best thing for everyone is if Venus and Seren adon't play, and say point blank it was because of how they got treated by the crowd. AND THE ANNOUNCERS, last year.

Then let the announcers spend the week defending themselves.

If Venus or Serena should happen to win OZ, it would be especially sweet. IW would be missing the winners of three of the past four Slams, with no one to blame but themselves.

Williams_Rulez - Give Ted of Ted a break! The only chance his fave has to won is if Venus and Serena don't play. Can't blame T of T for hoping for the only chance his favorite has of winning anything all year.

Yeah I Agree the WTA should offer some form of apology. And Venus and Serena should play Indian Wells just as a signal to the crowd and everyone else that they do not care. Basically that would be a middle finger to all of their HATERS.. We cannot have them miss the whole year then who would run the WTA(Williams Tennis Association)? Without the two queens there would be no QUEENDOM.. GO VENUS AND SERENA
