Sad to see all those one off tournaments that happened this year disappear.

Australia is a shitshow again (surprise, surprise), and that's the reason for the calendar hold-up. But clearly the AO won't be grabbing a later date like they did last year, they are on for Jan 17. The issue is, what's going to happen on the weeks of Jan 3 & Jan 10.

Thank you very much! This information is exactly the reason I've opened this thread!

Given the tournaments themselves have begun their own promo there clearly is a provisional calendar which we can only assume has been delayed due to still no final Australia schedule. Which is ridiculous, like just add those weeks as all “Australia TBC” or something. It’s November on Monday and neither tour has anything released for 2022

Part of this may be the WTA/ATP being concerned about vaccination status required for the players to play going forward. As AO will require vaccination to play, TA, and by extension WTA/ATP are NOT happy about this. They MAY be lobbying these tourneys NOT to require vaccination before making the schedule "official".in these countries. Speculation of course.....but is the schedule normally announced by now, at least the early part of it......say up to IW? This is the only leverage WTA/ATP would have.....so it makes sense.

Doha, Dubai, IW, Miami are the bigger tourneys after AO. I don't believe the Covid situations/political situations in these countries are going to require double vaccination.to play. So what's the hold up? AO is set....that will not change. Are they trying to have these other tourneys even forego quarantine/testing for the unvaccinated? Lot of questions here for sure. IW and Miami are not going to require double vaxx or even quarantine, only testing probably.....almost certain of that.

The biggest tourney in Canada later in the season for example is VERY likely only going to allow only double vaccinated players given public opinion here being much in line with Australia's. So WTA/ATP may be trying to gather as much intel as possible for the players before announcing a schedule. Going to be interesting to see what Wimbledon and Roland Garos do....WTA/ATP has very little influence there anyway...let alone what the UK and French governments allow to happen. I find it hard to believe Djokovic and others will remain unvaccinated if Wimbledon and/or RG require vaccination to play. So they have to decide NOW. Of course I could be talking out of my ass here....and it's just the usual WTA shit show management.

I'm assuming if players are vaccinated with some non-approved vaccines such as sinovac they won't be let in australia without the 2 weeks quarantine and any other tournaments may block them from playing at all... would they be able to get 2 differentt types of vaccines??!

You assume wrong.
Sinovac is an approved vaccine in Australia (for the purposes of entry), along with Johnson & Johnson (USA) and Covishield (India). Also Australia has just clarified that they will accept visitors with mixed doses i.e. 1st dose of x plus 2nd dose of y from the approved list.

As yet Sputnik (Russia) and Sinopharm (China) are not approved.
