With the cancellation of the Indian Wells Premier Mandatory tournament, the Main Draw of the Guadalajara WTA 125K Series tournament occurring the week of March 16th will be expanded from a 32 Main Draw to a 56 Main Draw. The draw size for the tournament will therefore be a 56M/8Q/16D instead of a 32M/8Q/16D.

Players who have not yet entered Guadalajara have until Wednesday, March 11th at 5pm Florida time to enter.

Players ranked 11-50 as of the 3 week entry deadline ranking may enter, however, a maximum of 6 may be accepted based on the highest ranked players who enter; 4 additional may play via wild card (in total 10 players ranked 11-50 may play, 6 by direct acceptance and 4 by wild card).

With the expanded Main Draw, the Main Draw will start 1 day earlier (on Sunday, March 15) with the singles and doubles finals on Saturday. Qualifying will remain 1 round played on Saturday, March 14.

The fact that this tournament is clearly going ahead is maybe a sign that the tour may not be as disrupted as many previously thought after the cancellation of Indian Wells

Has the WTA confirmed that this tournament will indeed be played? I hope so for the sake players trying to make up points. Will the WTA "freeze" ranking, or let points just drop off a players ranking as Indian Wells and now Miami are cancelled. I hope the WTA keeps the public informed. This site has been a wonderful source of information, as the press in the US has done little coverage of professional tennis tournament cancellations. Oh yeah, basketball is king, and I understand that, but there are millions of tennis fans world wide and we deserve to know what the status is of upcoming tournaments. Thanks to all who have contributed to this site.
