Good result to defend some of her points from last year. Anisimova will be tough next round.

 

Shuai can still definitely be a top 100 player at the very least (even top 50 in my opinion) but she seems hesitant to play more ITF events that would help her get there. She is 140 in the live rankings so she’s not far but it’s not high enough to grant her main draws of most of the WTA events.

 

She was actually entering quite a fair amount of ITFs this year, but there were many times she had to withdraw because she was still in doubles at the 2 week premier mandatory events.
