The british eurosport commentators did say during RG that she needs to change racket to get more power as for someone who's 5'10" she should hit the ball harder.

That's a shockingly drastic drop. I mean..she hasn't had a serious amount of time to practice with it, and even using my shitty strings I hate switching off rackets to ones in different parts of their strung life cycle.

With a lower tension you got more of what is called the Trampolin effect. The balls returns faster.
The price may bee less control. On the other hand if you don't have to wack the ball as hard you also gain control.

This is all pretty standart. The thing is the size of the change is enorm.

60 pound is in the top level of pro tension, and 46 is in the low range.

Well her game and all her results till now are based on her consistency, so I'm not sure if this change will have a positive effect. But on the other hand I think it's cool that she's finally willing to change something about her game. The key to a big title is playing offensive and make the result dependant on you and not your opponent. Seems like she really wants to win big now!

Wow, 14 pounds is a lot. But what strings are they? Some people use 10-15 pounds less than the recommended and it still seems to work well - Luxilon ALU power is amazing to hit with for example.
