I hated it when Davenport wins a match. She reacted as nothing just happen, as she just beat a nobody! like she was ment to win the match ! She didn't even smile! just plain look ! I bet her opponents would really love to kill her !

Hey u just beat me, at least treat me with a little respect.

Don't get me wrong, i don't hate Lindsay! but when it comes at the end of a match ! i just want to slap her in the face! helllooo ! u just won the god damn match!

You can't blame her. When she is winning, she still slouches her shoulders. So I think she doesn't really care about what is happenning, just how she is playing.

i totally disagree...would you rather have someone parading around in front of you like a little kid....i wouldn't. when venus and richard were dancing after her US Open win if i were lindsay i would of smacked her one....venus does'nt show respect towards her oponents whereas lindsay does and it is not in lindsays personality to be a 'showgirl'

Yes, Lindsay always respects her opponents.... she always smiles and is nice when she thanks them at the net...
Better then Serena who throws her hands up in the air like a beauty queen

the only time i ever see serena raise her arms is when she's acknowledging the crowd.what's wrong with that?the only other time i saw her throw her arms in the air is when she beat hingis at the us open this year, you can't expect her to not be excited to be in the finals of a grand slam after not being there since '99. and at the us open it was only richard who danced not venus.

Venus never danced on court. Venus conducts herself with dignity. I've never seen her done anything disrespectful to anyone, other then that chest bump incident. She doesn't even swear on court, which even Lindsay is guilty of.

As for Serena, she waves to the crowd, and that is acknowledging the crowds' support. Nothing disrepectful about that. And she is a beauty queen so

The victory dance was ridiculous. I'd kill Richard at the very moment he did it if it was to me. A**hole!

Martina has the best attitude when winning a match/tournament. She smiles, pumps her fist and that's all...

Venus was just very happy when she won wimbledon in 2000, there was nothing disrespectful about that. disrespectful is when you win or lose and you don`t give your opponent a hand at the net.

I still don't understand why people feel Richard's dance was directed at Lindsay. Why couldn't he have been dancing for himself?

To alot of people (especially black people) dancing is a natural way of exhibiting their joy. I took it as him being happy because his daughter won, and I don't see why people are still making such a big deal out of it.

I always thought the worst one was when Chris Evert mooned the Duchess of Windsor after losing in the Wimbledon quarterfinals to Virginia Wade on a bunch of real 'homer' overrules by the chair umpire.

It was a huge scandal at the time.

Oh contrer.....Venus did a whole routine when she beat Mary Pierce in the 4th round or quarters in maybe '98. There was quite a bit of controversy at the time and I thought it was in poor taste to be celebrating that early in a tournament. Other than that, I don't have a problem with Venus' celebrations. I don't have a problem with Richard dancing if he didn't climb on top of the booth or come out ON the court to do them. It's like, "Look at me, look at me, look at me!" Stealing thunder from his daughters.

Serena cracks me up with that incredulous "omg...I can't believe I won" reaction after she like STEAMROLLED over someone in a match, lol. And btw, she does do the beauty pageant arm raise and wave to the crowd, not that there's anything wrong with that

Variety is the spice of life....everyone has their own reactions

I've seen her kicking the net and throwing the racket several times while she was 6-0 5-0 (or a similar score) up and lost ONE game.
What kind of attitude is that, hu?

Actually tfannis, it's a damn good attitude. It shows hunger and desire, something that Martina must regain.

Lindsay is a bit nonchalant but quite respectable, Serena can be rude, Venus is classy.

Ok, I remeber when Venus danced after defeating Anna K. at a Tier I way back in 98', but damn, it's 2001. Venus hadn't even celebrated her 18th birthday when she did that dance. She is certainly more mature on court NOW. She carries herself in a mature, classy, and secure manor without disrespecting her opponents. Several times, this
year, she has spoken kind words to her opponents at the net as well as give them a warm handshake accompanied by a friendly smile. Go Venus!

As far as the Venus and Richard dancing at US Open 2000, that goes to show how much attention You were paying to them K-Rod. Richard WAS dancing, and was TRYING to get Venus to do the same, in which she DECLINED. Johnny Mac even made a statement about Venus' maturity in that situation.

Oh, yeah, and Venus was jubilant at Wimbledon 2000, but she never failed to acknowledge Lindsay. And, to Lindsay's credit, she had a very good attitude at the net. She understood that Venus was excited, she waited for her to come to net, and she congratulated her. Go Lindsay! Though she's not an angel like Venus

Well, if you're 6-0 5-0 up, there's no reason to react that way, you have proven then that you're the best of the two. She might call it a pitty, but you shouldn't get angry!
BTW, I think you NEVER should throw rackets and kick the net. It's only a game, right?

Martina actually lost the French Open 99' because of that same "damn good" attitude. She was winning the damn match, what's the problem. Let them have that call, you're up a set and a freakin' break. Martina tends to lose it quite often when she's frustrated. I've seen her throw her raquet a few times THIS year. It's not sports-person-like, but I don't mind a little DRAMA from the players every now and then. I look to players like Hingis and Serena to spark some emotional flames out there, but I tend to get upset with Capriati's whining and bitching throughout the tourney.

First off not everyone thinks the same. Just because some of you find some things disrespectful doesn't mean everyone feels that way. If it were me across the net and someone was dancing after my defeat I wouldn't feel disrespected. If I lost the match I would be thinking that if I would have won I would celebrate my way, and knowing me dancing would have been part of it. If my opponent won they're entitled to their own type of celebration. As long as acknowledgement to their opponent is made, and a firm handshake at the net occurs I don't find anything wrong with celebrations. That's just part of winning and losing.

Some of you guys are talking about slapping people. That's going a little too far. Especially when a black persons involved. I'm not as big as Venus or Serena, but I can hold my own. If someone comes up to me and smacks me for whatever reason they would regret it. I don't care who you are or how big. I'm thinking some players might have thought about it themselves involving V & S but were rational enough to realize they would regret it too. I don't think any of you really have the guts to do something like that, and if you did guts would most likely be replaced by stupidity.

I agree with you QueenV. I bet many people have thoughts of whipping Venus and Serena's asses, but have thought twice about it fearing that the tables would be turned. It's hard for me to see anybody having an easy go at either sister. If anybody's curious about ghetto antics of this matter, try slapping V&S's face. I'm sure you'll get a top notch education in Kick-ass 101. I bet some cowardly men have had thoughts of smacking the sisters too. Jerks.

Venus has commented on Richard's "dancing" on the court. She said that he wasn't dancing that he was simply jumping up and down. I said this in the old WTA thread, "What kind of nightclubs do you all attend where they call what Richard was doing dancing?"

I think Serena's little beauty queen response to victory is cute, but it would get on my nerves if I were one of her opponents.

I like Monica's slight clenched fist (she really is an humble one isn't she?)

I like Hingis' reaction when she wins. It's classic, and she shows her beautiful smile.

Venus clenches two fists in the air and runs/walks to the net. I like that one quite a bit.

Justine clenches her fist and seems to have her gameface on even two hours after the match.

I miss Mary's gentle smile and wave.

I think that Lindsay's atittude is totally respectfull to the others. I think that Lindsay doesn't like to throw her arms in the air and start jumping and sending kisses to the crowd as if she wre a diva.
I WOULD PREFER for someone not to start jumping in front of me when I have just lost a match and scrub it all over my face. I mean, I'm sure Lindsay enjoys her wins, but doesn't want to show it off to everybody.

I really do not like how the Williams sisters (specially Serena) act when they've just won a match. I know they must be happy because they've won it, but they should think of the others and how they must be feeling inside after a loss.

I'd prefer for someone to be calm after I lost a match, wouldn't you?
