the worst match I think I ever watched was Amanda Coetzer vs Conchita Martinez centre court at the 1998 US Open 6-4 4-6 6-2 . It was extremely difficult to watch, both players seemed incapable of trying to hit a winner, it was moonball after moonball even someone in the audience shouted out "Boring!" .

Venus Williams vs Lindsay Davenport, 2000 US Open Final was some pretty ugly stuff. Errors all over the place, and not the exciting kind.
I agree with a few ppl on here, that it was definately the Coetzer-Martinez match at US Open a couple years ago....UGLY!

Yes, Mary Carillo was even getting annoyed, she was like screaming out in the middle of a point "For the love of God, someone just come to net!" hehe.
Some ppl have mentioned quick drubbings like the 88 French final....at least that was 30 mins long
I feel sorry for the crowds that had to sit thru that 2 and a half hour monstrosity....at least I had the remote

That was simply awful. I couldn't believe I left work, rushed home in a cab to see that trash. Venus vs Kim at the US Open was an ugly match as well as the one before it, um Raymond vs Venus. That was nasty as well.

2) Martina Hingis vs Lina K., yes Martina is one of my favourites and I was happy she won, but Lina played one of the worst matches I have ever seen a player play
Then from other tournaments
Martina vs Monica Key Biscayne, again my favourite winning but it was painful to see Monica losing like that.
Davenport Hingis AO 2000, bias apart, it was really only Davenport playing there until 5-1 in the second set.
FO 99 final
Wimbledon 98 final, Novotna vs Tauziat. Novotna was one of my favourites and I had one of the greatest satisfactions since I follow tennis with her winning Wimbledon finally, but really the way they both played they should have declared the title vacant
Anna vs Sidot Wimbledon 2000. It was painful to see Anna, she didn't have a clue about what to do.
Capriati vs Serena Canadian Open, I've never seen so many errors from both sides in my life.

I couldn't agree more. Venus Williams, the most aggressive player on tour, only hit ten winners against Clijsters. But Kim still got crushed 61, 6-3 or something. More errors than any match in history, yet it was so short. Ugly, ugly, ugly.
Another one that comes to mind is Hingis vs. Ruano-Pascual at Wimbledon. Hingis was sort of standing in one spot, and hit every ball into the net. It reminded me of Pascual vs. Helen Keller.

I would have to say Canadian Open 1R match, now I didn't see a whole lot of it, but the score was Anke Huber def. Irina Spirlea 6-1 6-2. Obviously Irina tanked that match.

I still can't get over the Arantxa-Conchita Martinez SF at the 2000 French Open. IMO Conchita played great but Arantxa was just totally not there. She tried too much to take Conchi's moonballs on the rise and that didn't work at all. Anyway Arantxa couldn't play the ball and Conchita wasn't missing anything!
I agree with many of you....yes, the Venus / Kim match was dreadful...errors all over the place...soooooooo sloppy.
Worst has to be the trashing of Zvereva by Graf in the FO Final. It was the French (My fave) with two of my fave players...and Natalia's first GS final. But it was just painful to watch....she looked like she just wanted to get off the court as soon as possible.

Any Conchita vs. Arantxa match - it's not the long rallies.... in most cases Conchita plays terrible.
Graf def. Gaby 63 60 - Aus Open 88 Semis - Gaby was meant to be Graf's threat on this tournament. Wasn't everyone wrong!! Gaby was looking for the lockeroom in the 2nd set.

Ugly, hideous, awful. One from the vaults. Never have two players so good produced such excruciatingly unaesthetic tennis. Venus had her serve broken 5 times in that match. And she WON. A truly horrible display of tennis by two of the world's best. Had either of them close-to-played well, they'd have bageled the other.
These are two of my favorite players, BTW.

Got to be Jennifer Capriaty against Lindsay Davenport 2001 Australian Open semis. I remember it being VERY late when Iw atched it, but I remember seeing horrible tennis from both sides, especially Lindsay Davenport. She wasn't even moving like usually, and everythnig she hit went into the net, I think she had a very very bad day. Poor Lindsay!
And the rest are all men's tennis, everytime I fall asleep. So boring , especially when Sampras play, it's the only time I snore, and it is the only time I can fall asleep so fast, jsut thinking about it makes me tired *yawns, I am going to be now.

what a match! near the end, martina was literally tanking the way martina lost those last two games after being 40-0 up was heartbreaking
