adidas International 2002

Welcome everyone to the adidas International 2002! We are now in Sydney for the last tune-up tournament before the Australian Open, down under. The raging bushfires shall not affect our quality play here.

Here, the red hot Jame Blake shall attempt to capture his third consecutive title in just as many weeks. Andre Agassi and Jan Michael Gambill shall attempt to do the same, only this time, it is in doubles. It is also interesting to note that James Blake has also twiced reached the doubles finals, together with his partner Marcelo Rios, only to lose to Andre and Jan-Michael.

Other up and coming players shall also attempt to break Jame's stranglehold on tournament titles. 5th seeded Tood Woodbridge narrowly lost his quarter final match against James, in 2 extremelt tight tiebreak sets. Will he be able to go the full distance this time?

Nicolas Lapentti shall attempt to bounce back from a close lost to Marat Safin in the last tournament to improve on his questionable form.

Richard Krajicek, a consistent performer who makes it to semis every times, shall attempt to do better this time. We shall see if he manages to break his semi-finals curse.

Surprise semi-finalist, the number one Spaniard Alex Corretja, who is well known for his clay courting skills is showing that he is a force to be reckoned with on rebound ace as well. He will be our darkhorse in this tournament in Sydney.

This tournament in Sydney is extremely important, as it is the last stop before the Australian Open. Whoever wins it will surely have bragging rights at the Australian Open.

Not to worry, after the Australian Open, we shall have 2 tournaments a week, thereby elimnating the need for a qualifying draw. Bear with us for this week, we need to get everything fixed... the rankings, the commitments list, etc. etc. Please send in your points by Tuesday 8pm Board Time. E-mail address is [email protected]

I hope your color scheme is the dark one... or you might not see the colors very well!

I'm the new kid on the block, and I want to play. Sergei Bruguera with best surface clay, then hard, indoors and grass.
I play doubles with Big Linds on the eta tour so sign up Bruguera/Chang for doubles here, I will make sure she gets over it! ;)
