Just has such an exceptional game on the grass. Didn't even choke this one away, I just hope she has got her choking behind her now. 14-1 on the grass this season now :worship:
I've always been a fan of her demeanour and sportsmanship and attitude on the court, but wow, this match may have just made me a fan of Riske. Grass court specialist and it showed today, just has the perfect game for the court. Was by far the better player in the last two sets. Didn't even face a single break point in the last two sets. 30W/15UE.
Ash just got outsmarted today, though obviously she didn't play very well in the last two sets. Alison broke down her game, though - the way she dealt with Barty's BH slice was just sublime. Barty was a little too passive in the last two sets though and really let Riske dictate play too much here. Unfortunately for her, I think the mental fatigue probably got to her after that long winning streak - just couldn't get her game together in the last two sets but Riske peaking probably the cause of that, too. Her serve also let her down in the last two sets, 10 aces in the first set but only 2 combined in those two sets
Alison deserves this so much - a grass court specialist without a Wimbledon QF doesn't do her grass court prowess justice. Love it. I hope for her to win it, if Serena or Petra doesn't.
Riske was fantastic in last 2 sets...her DTL shots was so good...not a bad performance from Ash, Riske just played excellent tennis in last 2 sets. I doubt she can sustain this performance in next round though.
I wanted to make a thread that follows different changes of players' clothing sponsors and a list to easily check them. I'll try to update it regularly.
Slam winners and current/former top3 players are in BOLD.
Better player won.
I like Fiona’s game. I’m curious as to how she is on hard courts.
Anett should be fined for that performance. Served for the second at 5-3. Honestly, only had that lead because of a small lapse in concentration from Ferro at 3 all.
The reason why I talk about them specifically in this thread is because both of them are the most longevive top 10 active players after Halep and both were chasing for their first GS for quite a while already. So do you think they will win at least a Slam till the end of their careers or not ?
Serena was simply 2 matches from winning the calendar slam at the USO 2015. In her way were two Italians, Vinci and Pennetta. She had perfect records against both, 4-0 against Vinci, having never lost a set to her, not even being taken to 7-5 or a tiebreak. Against Pennetta she was 8-0. Serena...
