Right now I am un-impressed with the Harkelroad game...Right now she is just a steady anna smashnova type player...need to work on developing a weapon...she does have good court sense though. Sucks on grass :)

(this is the second slam in a row that she got to play a 16 year old in the first round!

Well, her game is definitely suited for clay, but she's been working on flattening out her strokes and going for her shots more. I'd be very happy if she made the top 20 and stayed there consistently. I agree that to be a top 10 player, she's going to need to improve some of her shots.

she going to have a decent career. she has the speed and she can work a point, she has power but not tons of it but it is enough to get her places. i'm pretty sure she will be a top 20 player if she becomes consistent.

i think top 20 is within reach but it's really hard for her to get more power. i mean she's only 1.65, which is small compared to everyone else

Either do I. I think a reasonable career with the odd good tournament hand in hand with lots of mediocre tournaments is the order of the day.

I once likened Ashley Harkleroad to Amy Frazier without having really seen her play all that much, just that I thought her career might be as good as Amy's. I managed to watch about a set of her match against Vera Douchevina today and I'm quite convinced she plays very much like Amy Frazier too. As to how far she'll go? Probably about the same as Amy - Top 15 but not quite Top 10. Like Amy, she's a smart player who will probably trouble some of the top players and even beat them on occasions, but will inexplicably lose to someone below her level every few weeks.

Im concerned for her, she does not finnish points of with her forehand enough, she sends it crosscourt, and then goes for the kill with the backhand. Its such a simple plan, most players twigg onto it. Okay she can beat Douchevina, but someone like Vera will eat that kind of play for Breakfast, lunch and Dinner.

I personally don't see that much there that can get her anywhere near the top. I think she is a moderately attractive American woman player with a decent game, but I doubt that she will get into the top ten in today's game.
