As we all know Justine Henin has a chance to claim the #1 ranking at Filderstadt if she wins the tournament or gets to the final and Clijsters does not. Kim has her ankle injury to worry about. Do you think Kim will fight to keep her #1 ranking or will she pull out and concede it. Also do you think she will play all of her scheduled tournaments to continue to be #1?? Juju has Linz to defend so Kim will get a break there, but the week before in Zurich I believe her ranking can be on the line again.

Right now the no.1 is not in Kim's hands. It is dependant on how well or poorly Justine performs. Kim seems to have accepted it judging by her recent remarks regarding who the real no. 1 is in her opinion.
If Kim's ankle is still bothering her till today I doubt she will play or get far. Ankle injuries don't clear up overnight although she may play through pain but that won't be for long.

Yep, I think that her speaking that way is indicating that she isn´t confident in her ankle and in doing well at this tournament.

i do not see her wininng this tournament, due to the ankle... whether or whether not she will play is up to her, but is she decides not to... i honestly think that justine has a VERY good chance at the number 1... that is if elena beats nadia... and silvia... i think the elena vs. justine possible quarterfinal will prove if she is playing well enough or not

Id love to see a Jenn d. Kim match!!!

I also hope to see Justine become no.1 because she has won 2 slams this year...otherwise it will be like Lindsay's no.1 at end of 2001, she was slamless while Jen and Venus won 2 slams each, and this year it is Kim with Justine and Serena jhaveing 2 slams each.

Kim shouldn't play it as simple as that. SHe has barely practiced since Leipzig and even then it has been light practice, limited moevement, now Hantuchova may have struggled to close out big matches this year but realistically all she will have to do against Kim is make her move.

in Zurich I believe her ranking can be on the line again.
There is more pressure on Kim's rank this week than in Zurich, Kim has nothing to defend in Zurich, Henin has semi points to defend.
