From Yahoo tennis web site:

"American tennis player Andre Agassi is escorted by security guards to his match against Thomas Enqvist of Sweden at the Kooyong International in Melbourne, Australia, Thursday Jan. 10, 2002. Security has been tightened around American players after a threat made against Tiger Woods who is now playing in the New Zealand Golf Open"
---
I hope that this was just a stupid hoax that was perpetrated by some drunk idiot rather than a serious terriorist threat.

I want all American competitors and travelers to be safe.

well as far as agassi goes he always has like 50 body guards around him. agassi i sof Iranian descent did you know that? Well anyway no, I don't think they're in trouble tons of American have traveled abroad since 9/11 and nothing has happened.except the paris to miami thing. I mean they always have security. However, the security will have to be lifted since the threat of terrorism has been made more real.

I dont think so!

No guys, I don't think so. Most of the top players are escorted by security guards, even because of the fans! The Sep 11 attacks won't have much influence on that...

I guess some players would be in more danger on U.S. soil (Indian Wells) than they would be in a foreign country.

Oh well, such is life.

No, of course they're not in danger. Or not in any more danger than any high profile sports person.
