Thanks for the information!
I heard that Tamarine Tanasugarn try to request late entry at Canberra because she could not go to Sydney in time for qualify. Her name appear as no. 2 seeded in qualify list of Sydney.

The reason is she is playing The Hong Kong Ladies Challenge this week until 4th Friday. Does anyone can get the information, please post.

Thank you.
Jaslyn Hewitt just claimed the last Sydney Main Draw Wildcard!
Hewitt???Man that is a bit of an insult to some of the other girls. I am surprised Wheeler ddin't w'd from Tassie and ask for one in Sydney
Thanks for the info Ausboy
Its not an insults monster.

With three WTA events in Australia, 21 wildcards to be handed out it. It was inevitable that some lower ranked players would benefit in receiving main draw wildcards.

I think Tennis Australia has really tried to maximise the representation of Aussie women in events this year.

Sydney - MD - Molik, Hewitt
Sydney - QD -

Canberra - MD Evie, McQuillan, Stewart, Ellwood
Canberra - QD Grahame

Tasmania - MD Pratt
Tasmania - QD Van Elden, Wheeler, (Watson & Stosur had direct entry through play in, dunno for sure if they have accepted those)

Remove all the those and their are like 3 top 300 Aussies unallocated in Dittmann, McShea and Musgrave.

So Hewitt wasn't a ridiculous choice at all. For starters she would draw the most interest of the remaining players because of who her brother is. Secondly she has already played in 2 WTA events last year. She beat Nola, pushed McQuillan to 7-5 in the 3rd, pushed Farina 6-3 7-5 last year and also played Lina Krasnoroutskaya so she probably has more experience at this level other than McShea and Musgrave.

I hope she can cause an upset, either way its a good experience for her and I hope I get to see her play on TV! Cos I haven't seen her play for 2 years.

Yeah look nbothing against hewitt and best of luck to her.
I just would have thought wheeler would have been a more obvious choice. Who knows maybe she didn't want to accept a wildcard in Sydney.
There are many other players with a higher ranking that you would have thought would have been considered as well.
Wheeler already had accepted entry into Hobart before so she was out of contention for the wildcard on offer for the main draw.

I think Wheeler is better playing Tasmania as she is likely to get more matches there
Hasnt Tanasugarn got a Wild Card into Canberra????
How does Hewitt play???
