Why Martina Hingis will be back on top.

Hello everybody

As we all know Hingis has had a terrible year. But I think we must not be too worried about her future.

If you look on pure skills she is problably the best out there. Sure she lacks power and has no good serve. But look at this Martina Hingis was born to be a tennis superstar. She has worked incredible hard and never had a really normal life. Her mother and she wanted her to become a great tennisplayer and she became. Her whole life is about tennis, sure she does have some private life but tennis is and was the main thing. Back in'97 when she conquered the world of tennis people were saying she had a chance to become on of the best ever.

At this moment people doubt her, but just look at her skills. She can do almost anything she want and have worked hard for it. Now it seems her game is maybe not enough for todays powerbabes. But she is almost destined to be a top player for years. She is 21 and has still enough years in front of her. You can be sure that she is willing to do everything to be the best again. She loves tennis and the tour is her world. Martina is definetly capable to improve her game if she sets her mind 100% on it.

Is there anybody who thinks that she wont be motivated? Think again. Is there anybody who thinks she hasnt got what it takes to be the best again? Ill speak you again in the future.

Martina will not go on making only semi's , she is a natural winner and will not be denied for all those years which are coming. There's no way she will go on the rest of her career like she has been struggling this year. I think that if her motivation and confidence are back she can sure win a GS and be #1 again. I do not think she will be as dominating as in '97 cause the concurention is bigger especially the Williams sisters who I want to give credit as they are great athletes and also have great years in front of them.

I think Martina,Venus and Serena are the future of tennis. Im looking forward to next season and wishes good luck to all three of them.

I'm with infiniti2001! People seem to forget too quickly that even if martina had her worst year ever in matter of number of titles (only 3 tiers II), she had a pretty good running overall ... she has to defend 3 finals, 9 semifinals and 2 QF if she wants to stay where she is ... #4! But that's not my prediction! Because she will not win Adidas and will not reach the final of the AO (for the first time in the past 5 years!) MH will fall a little bit more in the rankings in the beginning of next year. I agree with one thing though... she will be probably more motivated than ever to regain what she lost last year but the journey will be very very long! And the top 10 is sooo strong now that i wouldn't bet my money on her right now!

I'm curious though to see how she will do in January ... i guess her results in the Australia season will definitely tell us what will be the rest of her year!!

I'm still with you infiniti2001!

I believe that MH has "almost" everything to come back to the top but this will not happen in 2002. Mathematically, it is impossible for her to do so and we all know that rankings have a lot to do with maths! She has too many points to defend to stay where she is. Actually, she needs another bad year to erase all these points and then be able to rise again just by gaining points. Why do you think VW is not #1 right now? because of all these stupids points she has to defend each year to remain at the same position. Her not playing a full schedule is another reason for not being #1 but this is not MH's case. And I don't see MH playing more than she already does...the injuries would stop her anyway!

So let's be objective for a moment MH's fans and you guys be prepared for another fall before she comes back. Let's just hope she will have the same bad year so the fall won't be that catastrophic.

2003...yes maybe this will be Martina's year!
