I first saw this feature on matina at the aussie open, in 1997 i think. They showed her rollerblading through Melbourne and had an interview with her. I hadn't seen her play before but thats when she became my favourite.
i first started watching serena in 1998 i think as an eighth grader and she just INSTANTLY struck a cord with me. she's so inspiring to me in so many ways and i know there is great things for her to come in the future, whether people choose to believe it or not.
I became a Martina fan during that infamous RG final against Graf...Going into it I was hugely supporting Graf, who I had loved for so many years and was very excited when she started to turn things around but then Steffi ignored the Mark which was on the backend of the line and instead of Hingis being up 15-love she was down love-30 :fiery: I started to feel disgusted with everyone BUT Martina...and things went downhill from there. Then when she had to be escorted back on the court by her mom and she was so fragile and shattered it just broke my heart...I vowed then and there to support Martina no matter what...I was also glad when Daveport beat Steffi at Wimbledon that year...Karma much?
i first started liking kuznetsova after wimbledon 2003-i didnt see her play any singles matches even though she reached the quarters, but when she was playing doubles with navratilova sveta just couldnt do anything right, and for some reason that made me love her.
then i saw her play well and i was blown away-especially by her forehand :worship:
i've always liked serena for her attitude on court and off, i love the way she says shes the best (which she is) and yet she's still very respectful of other players-she's an absolute legend.
i started following tennis in 1999, and i fell in love with martina when she won the oz open that yr, and to find out the she won it 3 yrs in a row since she was 16!! i was amazed at how much she achieved so young...
I'd been an on and off tennis fan and recreational player since I was a kid, the days of Rod Laver & John Newcomb. I led a pretty normal, balanced life. I established myself in a stable career, made life-long friends and started a family with the love of my life.
Then I saw Anastasia Myskina and looked into her eyes. Now, I have no will of my own. I am but a drone serving a higher power. My life is guided by an unseen hand. I will drink the Kool-Aid. I must drink the Kool-Aid.
I think Justine's game pretty much sum's up why I'm a fan .
I first started watching tennis since Wimbledon of 2003. Back then, I only watched some matches from time to time, mainly of the Grand Slam types. Justine's matches always intrigued me. I love her attitude on court. Quiet, yet always calculating. I love that she's dedicated and such a fierce fighter. Of course, she's got an all-round great game and a killer backhand.
Since I started watching tennis so late, I never became a fan of Martina Hingis, although I am starting to really like her as well.
i'm a fan of several players as listed on my signature
Among all Russians, Kuzy is my fava because i like her style and that she played with Na Li in Beijing Oct.2004, and said she felt like playing with a top5! Nice to hear that!
It was not long after Na back to WTA tournment after two years of absence. I became Li Na's fan since then, bcs of her great talent and the big pity of the stupid retirement(she went to University)!! Now i'm happy she's back
I was a fan of Venus before 2000, but after watching her win Wimbledon for her first time in 2000, I was instantly hooked! I can't really put my finger on it, but I love her style! She is such a power house, yet quiet and stoic...and now more than ever, she has an all around game....SHE JUST NEEDS TO PLAY MORE!!!!!
Even before i watch tennis, but im not really a fan of it, but when I saw Hingis playing against Benesova in Aussie i became a tennis fan. I just love watching Martina with all the smile on her face makes me like tennis more.
- she's an Aussie
- she got a real killer versatile backhand
- most powerful topspin hitter
- love the way she serves
- I really love her own style of games!!
- she is very young and mature between matches!
She became my favourite player when i watched her in Sydney by taking a set off from Magdalena Maleeva! Also won a grand slam match against Nuria Llagocsteria Vives and then in second round - she pushed Nadia Petrova to three sets after taking a first one!
She was too strong against Nadia in the first (also very powerful)
Because of her sweetness and her respect towards others...she is PURE CLASS. The way she conducts herself on and off the court is unlike any other top athlete. You can't measure Amys self being with an endorsment or a clothing contract. She knows who she is without all that. She is within herself and that is to be respected and admired.
