I voted for Kournikova since there isn't a fourth option. That fourth option would be; 'non of these 3'

If I'm not mistaken Anna will play a tournament in Australia were absolute no player of her level will participate, so I think she will win that one.

If Kournikova manages to find her top form and some good confidence in 2002, then my bet is on her. If not then I'd go with Dementieva who is certainly capable of picking up some titles but has yet to get through being runner up yet. Stevenson I'd be shocked to see win a title, maybe Birmingham, or a smaller indoor event could give her some hope at a good run, but I don't see her winning a title next year.

My vote: Elena D!
My other vote would be for Tamarine Tanasugarn
Besides Magui Serna they are the only 3 in the top 30 that haven't won a title yet. Not that it matters, but I just think that Elena and Tamarine are due and they have the goods to get it! I don't know much about Magui's game except that she upset Henin this year at Scottsdale.

I voted for Elena, but I think both Elena and Anna will win a tournament in 2002. For Anna, it's dependent on how she returns from injury - if she comes back well, she could win in Auckland. Elena really should have won one last year, but slumped instead; this year she should be back to her best.

I'd agree with Tanasugarn, although she's blown so many chances to win - in Pattaya, for example, she had the talent to storm through the field, but crashed in the first round. I'm surprised Serna's not won yet. I think we should all be watching Birmingham - grass is the best surface for Kournikova, Stevenson, Tanasugarn and Serna... if Kournikova doesn't enter, I'd say Tanasugarn has a good chance there. I wouldn't put money on Stevenson winning a tournament next year - she's only ever reached one SEMI in her career, and no finals AT ALL.

I think Elena will win her first title before Anna and Alex. Remember, Anna has to rebuild her game, and get her ranking back into the top 20 before I think she is ready to win her first title. If Alexandra is on her game, with her big serve and powerful ground strokes, then she could surprise us and win her first title before Elena or Anna. But I think it will be Elena.

I voted for Anna... I think now that she is not under the pressure of being a high ranked player without a tournament win, she'll finally do it. As for Elena, she seems to get this mental block she has to get rid off (sort of like Anna). I hope I'm wrong and she'll get a win too..............

Much as I would like to be Anna to silence her critics, from what I've heard about her play against Monica the other day, it's unlikely.

I think Elena is the only one with a realistic chance at present.

Stevenson. Why? She's gonna be playing Tier IVB's, Tier V's, sattellites and the GS's. She'll be playing players down around her ranking who she has a realistic chance of defeating.

Dementieva will play the best of the three, but she'll be playing Tier I's and II's. Much tougher opponents.

Kournikova is showing no signs that she believes she has any control over her failure to win tournaments. A player who was touted as a future GHS winner is reduced to debate over if he'llever win A tournament. ANY tournament.

Alexandra will win a tournament first.

If I had to choose between these 3 to win their first it would have to be a tie between Stevenson and Dementieva. I don't understand why everyone on this forum hates Alexandra but I thinks she a great player who will become even greater next year. Dementieva I think just might and Kournikova I think has no chance.

if anna's plays the way she did against monica in denver, i don't see her winning auckland. but her game yesterday was very off, and i doubt she'll want to carry that over for next year
.

hopefully she plays better against jen and amanda.

i still think anna will win a tournament first. but i also like elena so it doesn't really matter. as long as they win and get over the russian "no-luck-in-winning-titles (except myskina) thing", i'll be happy
...

stevenson still has to be more consistent before she wins...

here's hoping for the success of all three

One little quibble with Volcana's reasoning:
If you're counting Tier IV-B's, Tier V's, AND satellites, Anna's name has to come off the list, as she has already won 2 of those. And the two tournaments Anna has won are usually stronger than a lot of Tier IV's and V's on the main tour.

If you remove the satellite events from the discussion, then the rest of your statements hold up much better. The point about Alexandra playing against lower-level competition (Anna will probably play mostly big events) is a good one in her favor.
