I am told that Althea Gibson used to hit them all the time. Andrea Jaeger also hit them(Queen of moonball)

Chris Evert is the first one I remember, although she did not hit it often.

Billie Jean King has renamed that shot. It's now called the "Schwing volley" because of Venus' superior execution of it. Forehand, backhand, court postion, below the net or above it.. doesn't matter. Whenever Venus hits it... it's a winner. She makes the most impossible schwings look totally effortless.

The tennis diva of the 1920's , Suzanne Lenglen, liked to hit swing volleys. Venus has the best that I've seen, but it's a poor play when the ball is below the net.

Funny you mentioned Jimmy Connors Big Lindsay, cause he had that "skyhook" overhead as well the swing volley-and he hit them both with that toothpick T2000!
