Over the player of the last 15 years who was the best at each aspect of the game, but broken down per surface. Here would be mine:

Grass:

Serve- Venus
Return- Serena or Davenport
Forehand- Venus
Backhand- Serena
Net game- Mauresmo or Hingis
Movement- Venus
Mentality- Venus

Clay:

Serve- Stosur
Return- Henin
Forehand- Henin
Backhand- Henin
Net game- Henin
Movement- Henin
Menality- Henin

Hard Courts:

Serve- Serena
Return- Serena or Davenport
Forehand- Capriati, Henin, or Clijsters
Backhand- Henin, Hingis, or Davenport
Net game- Venus
Movement- Venus, Henin, or Clijsters
Mentality- Serena

Don't compare Venus' netplay to Hingis's, Henin's, or Mauresmo's  Grass, clay or whatever. I think that Venus' netplay was the most effective in grass tho

There is a reason why Serena is only 1 slam behind the open era record for hardcourt slams won by a player.

Venus isnt as good at the traditional punch volley as those, but she has amazing swing volleys, an incredible overhead with maybe the biggest vertical leap of any women since Graf, and her reach makes it almost impossible to get the ball past her.

Really? I think that her overhead is one fo the worst in the game, it lacks power constantly and her opponent makes a passing shot out of it many times, also the vertical leap is totally unnecessary, its not like she catches it in the air while jumping or anything, she just does that before hitting it. Agree on the reach and the swing volleys part though.

The 97-99 version of Graf? The one who didnt even play many events on clay, but in the few she did lost 6-0, 6-1 to Coetzer, 6-1, 6-4 to Coetzer at the French Open, lost to Julie Halard on clay, and would have been killed in straight sets by Hingis in that infamous French Open final, if Hingis hadnt had that meltdown. Come on I am a Graf fan but she wasnt the best at anything during the last 15 years.

Yeah you're a great fan knowing that she came back with a botched knee surgery in 97 and was trying to get in shape for the French then played anyway even though it hurt like hell and made it pretty far so if that's not mental strength I don't know what is and Hingis was caused to melt down by Graf because she didn't just fold and give it to her. You look at that 5-4 game in the second set especially that epic 30-something shot rally at 15-15 and tell me Graf didn't earn that win. Her fitness, mental toughness and court craft allowed her to get to shots and stay in the points that lesser players couldn't. The Graf of 99 was outstanding and beat the world no.1, 2 and 3 in successive rounds and that's the reason I put her there.
