What do you think? Pironkova vs Makarova. Two lovely girls with stylish classic grasscourt games who have shown once again they have what it takes to take out the name players. Is this the final Eastbourne needs this year?

Makarova is no grassgoat and rather useless on any surface.
Pironkova would never lose to Oudin on grass.
Not sure about the draw but doubt Makarova'll make final.

Well in fairness Birmingham wasn't really played on grass, more like mud.

Two years ago Makarova beat 5 consecutive top 20 players in straight sets to win the title here. All players would like to be that useless on grass.

I watched beginning of the first set and Kvitova was steamrolling Makarova, looked like nothing she could do.
I left at 4-2 for Kvitova, dunno what happened but stats indicated Petra made way to much UE's.
Makarova couldn't do anything when Kvitova was playing decent.

Bartoli will probably make final, not sure in who's side of draw she is.

Both have nice games on grass and with a final here both would back up the good results they've already had on the surface.

Kvitova virtually always hits more winners than her opponents, even in losing efforts. But there is more to winning a tennis match than having more winners than your opponents. Take a look at the stats. Ekaterina W:22/UE:14 Petra W:35/UE:36. I know whose stats I would rather have, and it isn't the girl who hit the most winners.

I'm cheering for Marion to make the final at the moment, but it would be fun if Tsvetana were to win this and have another good run at Wimbledon. She would have to be considered a grass specialist! Or maybe she's that already.. so a grass GOAT or something like that, I guess! :lol:
