these three runs to 470 points are filled with BYES, local Wild Cards, Qualifiers and Lucky Losers ... and the fact that players ranked out of the SEWTA Top 400 were involved :sobbing:

Well, biased though I may appear, I'm trying to see this in a neutral way. Serena did have points to defend. 470 is not nothing. Equally, Caroline had points to defend. Agniezska; I'm not sure if she has an excuse, but... ...

So what? These 400+ players earned the right to face the top seed. Van Uytvanck beat Pervak & Scheepers, both in the top 50. Gibbs beat Nom. It wasn't like these players were totally inept wild cards and then the accused vultures happened to draw them in the first round.

I don't see why a tennis player would need an excuse for playing tennis, no matter who she is or how many (if any) points she has to defend.

This goes totally against the grain of all normal thinking on TennisForum.

And needless to say, as with most posts that go against the grain of normal TennisForum thinking it is so much the better for it.

Unfortunately based on our current ranking system, you are forced to play lesser events, if you want to be #1.

You can't have it both ways. First we complain when top players don't play all of the events. They we complain when they do.

Na-Mug has passed his peak and will never start a reasonable thread again  :crying2:

Going against the grain of all normal thinking on TennisForum = having a brain.

You and Chrissie-fan belong to that tiny group of posters on TF, the rest is pretty much forgettable.
