Who is Greater?

He's a goat at tennis, but he has the same number of Olympic Medals as contemporaries such as Kei Nishikori and Pablo Currena Busta. And 0 Gold Medals despite competing at 4 different Olympics where he was a top 5 player. Don't think Rod Laver or Bjorn Borg would be getting mollywhopped by midcarders while representing their country if the Tennis at the Olympics existed in the olden days.

Borg is a very poor comparison given that he never won the US Open in spite of reaching the final multiple times (and having an annual attempt at winning it rather than one every four years). And he kept flopping in New York even in the three years when the tournament was held on green clay in Forest Hills. If you're going to hold Djokovic's lack of an Olympic medal against him, a player who famously did not win what was the second biggest title in the sport back then is not the yardstick to measure him against.

And before you mention Nadal, how many times has Nadal won the ATP Tour Finals, which are also a big event in men's tennis?

girl those 64 slam titles dont count as more than 3 or 4 real slams. get real

im far from being a djokovic fan but comparing their achievements is just riddiculous
In my eyes if Novak is to be taken seriously as the GOAT over Margaret he really needs to start winning some mixed doubles at the slams. If he gets a move on starting in Melbourne he might soon reach Mrs Court's impressive 21 mixed titles.

PS just joking.

As for Margaret Court's views - they rather pale into irrelevance when the WTA is likely to be holding its year end finals next year (and the ATP's their next gen finals this year) in a country which publicly executes gay men.

Women's and men's tennis records used to be seperate. Why do all of a sudden records are mixed together ? Pseudo feminism ?
Maybe so people can belittle Margaret Court’s accomplishments for the upteenth time because she had the misfortune of being born in 1942 and she also has religious views that don’t align with theirs.

In best of three, he would lose to Djere and not win the US Open. Probably there are more matches when he won from 0-2 or 1-2 down, so his slam count would be also lower. So in a way best of five can save you more because it gives you more time for a comeback.
To be fair to Novak, I’m sure he’d adjust if playing best of 3 matches in slams rather than best of 5. The dynamic is completely different.

It's obviously Djokovic, much as I dislike him.

Having said that, I don't know why a lot of the media and fans now appear to be combining male and female records. It doesn't make sense to me, as they are two different competitions.
Sports media always needs something to talk about. Even though it’s apples and oranges for obvious reasons, a Court/Djokovic comparison will get people to talk about tennis.

Just because you have the most slams doesn’t necessarily mean you the “greatest”, there are other factors as well…
These debates are always subjective, though a lot of people don’t think so

Margaret Court gets too much discussion for “slam tournament wins” that we’re not equal to the slams of the pro era
Court should have a permanent asterisk placed next to her slam wins so people understand the difference
Also she should have a line through her name for all of her anti gay rants and statements

That’s all

Novak by a mile although i can't stand him
