I'm jut curious to know because we're all some of the biggest tennis fans in the world, and I'm jus wondering how many people have this dream. I am one of them. I've been playing now for almost 4 Years, and I practice everyday. I'm a 5.0 and my dream is the become a pro. Of course I'd love to win many grand slams, but I'd also just love playing on the tour, the hitting, the matches, the travel, it's all great for me.

I got interested in tennis in 1999 on a very special day. My Dad and I went out to the mall because my mom was having a Bingo group at our house, and I wasn't aloud to be around. When I came back, I was bored so I turned on the T.V. and was flipping when I saw Venus. At this time I had no idea who she was and barely anything about tennis. All I saw was this tall, muscular, phenomenal athlete and I was thinking who is this? So of course I continued watching the match and I learned that she was playing Martina Hingis in the U.S. Open Semifinals. I watched in amazement of this girl, who I now knew as Venus Williams. I was amazed by her. I loved everything I saw, the dress, the beads, her muscles, the way she hit the ball, her power, all these things coming at once. I got into the match and when she started cramping in the 3rd Set I started to get really nervous. I watched in sadness as she struggled to continue and I couldn't bare the thought of her losing. On the final point, Hingis screamed and I knew that this must've been a huge win for her. That match inspired me to play tennis, the power, the thrill of hitting good shots all just swelled inside of me. I've been training extremely hard ever since. I've been to Bolletieri's and I play USTA Tournaments. Hopefully, I will become a pro one day. But I'm very determined and I'll do anything to get there...

So what are your stories about getting interested in tennis?

I wish you luck!!!!! And I mean that.
I am too old now (28)!!! But I do wish that I had discovered tennis earlier when I was a kid, cause when I find something I love to do - thats all I think about, and all that I want to do. I am such a tennis fanatic, I can play tennis for hours. And then I come home and watch tennis matches I have on tape. And when I am bored I play tennis video games.
:help: "I cant get tennis out of my brain!"

I love the sport - and even after my favourite player retires - I will always still play tennis.
I have never had tennis lessons, and learned to play on my own. And I have gotten good enough to play with the big boys and have won 4 titles here in Texas playing under USTA. I definately think that if I had discovered tennis when I was younger, I would definately try to go pro. I think that I would thrive at a tennis camp - and would feel right at home playing 2 times a day - everyday, and training to be the best I could be.
Oh well, I can still play tennis at a recreation level and thats better then nothing at all.

SO I SAY GO FOR IT!!!!!!!:yeah:

i'd love to be a pro and train everyday it would be so fun. i have some talent but did only start at 18 (this year) so i'm probably a bit to old to really develop it and anyway noone in my family supports me anyway and it would just be too hard to try and go pro without any family support.

Well I have been playing for about 4 and a half years and would be awesome to be a pro. However being only just in the top 50 in my state will make it difficult, I am willing to train and I am always motivated. I will just wait and see where my tennis takes me :) ....
