Why do we play hard court events after the US Open? Why do we play hard court events after the Australian and before the clay?

They're tennis tournaments. Not slams, but tournaments. Why not play them on clay instead of hard court?

No harm, no foul.

I don't have a problem with them. These smaller events are needed in order for lower ranked players to make money and get ranking points.
I guess so.
But couldn't they do the same on hard court?

A variance of this would be to add more grass courts and hold them the last 3 weeks before RG for those who want to skip RG and prepare for Wimbledon.
This will add more grass events to the WTA season. Now there are very few

I don't care, the clay court tournaments on the calendar the rest of the year are for the mere peasants of the WTA. Let them have what they want.

Well, Who Else Think Grass Court Season Shouldn't End After Wimbledon? RG is the pinnacle of clay tennis, but it doesn't mean all clay tennis have to finish after it, there are still enough hard court events. If anything, I'd like to see more grass tennis, even after Wimby.

To be honest, there are too many hard court tournaments as is, there should be more clay tournaments for clay specialists to vulture, I guess. Or perhaps make more indoor hard court tournaments.

And just turn more of the world into hard court? IMO we have too much "sameness" on the tour.

Besides, these venues not only host tennis tournaments, they train future players. So switching to hard courts would have a ripple effect.

Bastad has been hosting a clay court event the week after Wimbledon for over 60 years now. I wish them luck with 60 more.

Here-Here! More grass and indoor events would increase variety.

I wish the seasons would be more defined. I mean, the Aussie, the Asian/American HC, the clay, the grass, the Asian/American HC II and the Indoor. ;)

Of course longer grass season would be welcome! :D

And please, no clay in summer!

And I think one-surface specialists are part of tennis, not everybody has to be an all-rounder. For those clay specialists main aim after RG might be collect as many points as possible on clay events, they'd just know they wouldn't do well at Wimby and USO. And grass specialists are quite rare nowadays, more grass events might bring more grass specialists to tour. I think good proportions for different surfaces would be:

30-35 % hard courts
30-35 % clay courts
20-25 % indoor hard (or carpet)
10-15 % grass courts
