I think in order:

1Lindsay Davenport-many tournament wins
2Venus Williams-sorry I don't see her playing a lot
3Monica Seles- watch out for her!!!
4Jennifer Capriati-will be good, but not great!!!
5Martina Hingis-consistently making quarters,semis
6Serena Williams-same as Venus
7Kim Clijsters-
8Amelie Mauresmo
9Mary Pierce- she will come back with some vigour
10Justine Henin- will be hard pressed to make top10!!

Other contenders: Kournikova, Hantuchova, Dementieva, Dokic, Dokic would be my next bet!!!

What does everyone else think!!!!

It all depends if she decides during the recovery that she realy loves tennis and give it a go then she can be number 1 again, if she doesn`t then it`s the end for her in the top 5 or maybe even top 10

IMO Justine Henin will be certainly in the top 10!!!!
I don't doubt about that. I wonder why everyone puts her so low in their top 10.

I would love to see Hingis in her winning ways, but I just don't see that happening!!! I think if Pierce can get a couple of good wins under her belt and stay injury free that she will vault up the rankings!!!

Does anyone think the Spaniard, Sanchez Vicario and Marinez re-emerge in the Top 10????

Capriati/RafterFan : Hi,
I'd love to see Arantxa & Conchita in top 10.
I think they can do that if they give their best,...but maybe they had some distractions this year. Hope that they have good luck next year.

BTW,.. it's nice to see another poster from Ottawa!
I lived there several years before. I lived in an apartment on Ottawa riverside at McEwen Ave,.... it's close to Nepean,..and Bay Shore mall.
I still miss the memories of skating on Rideau Canal & skiing at Edelweise & Mont Tremblant as well.
Did you have snow already? I was surprised at the snow in October then.

Capriati/RafterFan : Wow,...it's somewhat weird! No snow in late October?
One more question. Would you let me know the exact name of Canadian national anthum? I heard that several times at "Night Festival of Light & Sound (correct?)" in front of parliament in summer season.
It was sung by 2 singers( one in English & one in French),....and I was very impressed with the song. I still think it's the best anthum on earth.
I want to know more about that song,.. if available.

Thanks in advance.

I don't expect Aranxta and Martinez back in the top 10.. their time is over.

I think Monica will start dropping too, she's still a good player, but IMO she can't follow the real top anymore.

1. Hingis - Still the most consistent in appearances and ability to reach far in the draw. This assumes Venus does not win more than 2 grand slam events.

2. Venus Williams - will not play more than 13 tourneys, but will benefit because she has no big points to defend for the last half of this season.

3. Davenport - No huge change or improvement in her game. She will reach #1 before the end of the year but will fall by the end of the 2002 season.

4. Serena Williams - will definitely play more than 10 tourneys and seems to have regained some of her confidence as evidenced by her not choking on her most important recent matches (Toronto, Flushing Meadows)

5/6. Capriati/Clijsters - 2001 was anomaly for Jenn. She will probably not be able to defend either of her grand slam titles because everyone will be hungry to beat her, and there is no longer the element of surprise with regard to her level of play.

7. Seles - Can she sustain the hunger she had this summer. Regardless, she is talented enough to remain in the top ten by YE 2002.

8. Dokic - Messy, messy game. This assumes she acquires a strong serve to help her finish out final matches.

9. Henin - Maybe. I had lots of confidence in her earlier this year. Can she handle the pressure of being in the top ten?

10. Shaughnessy. This is a random guess. It could be just about anyone but Kournikova (too many players want a piece of Anna).
