Which tournament would you prefer Madrid Open or the old German Open?

There's no history on the Tour nowadays.
Madrid and Beijing are two of the biggest events but no elite player gives a single f-ck about it.

The German Open would be a success with all the top 20 Germans. Bring it back!

The old German Open was so good; the conditions and the court speed seemed to actually prepare players for Roland Garros and the players used to give a damn.

lets look at the winners of Berlin in the last decade of its life

Safina (2008)
Ivanovic (2007)
Petrova (2006)
Henin (2002, 2003, 2005)
Mauresmo (2001, 2004)
Martinez (1998, 2000)
Hingis (1999)

All the players that won there were top players who had solid results on clay not just 1 fluke win ;)

The votes so far are 52-3

I have to agree with everyone though that Berlin was better. Uranium is right, make Rome mandatory and Berlin Premier 5. The tour has forgotten about its history and that's a shame.

- 2 german tournament would be too much, so Stuttgart has to go back to indoor season.
- might be wrong but I heard Hamburg venue is in better shape. Also has that roof thingy.
- make a free week between biggest Premier tournaments.

so it would look like:
Monte Carlo (or something else that fits in that category, just to replace Stuttgart.)
Rome
-break-
Hamburg
-break-
French Open

Of course Tiriac has money to buy all clay courts in Europe, so whatever.
