I heard about the new Reese Witherspoon tennis-related movie that she's making, so this made me wonder:

Whose life (both women or men) do you want to see portrayed in films?

I don't know that much about the "old-timers", so I pick these people:

Monica Seles
Jennifer Capriati
The Williams Sisters
Steffi Graf
Martina Navratilova
Billie Jean King
Justine Henin
Andre Agassi
Boris Becker
Althea Gibson

Ofcourse for the younger players, you'd have to wait until there's a climax and a denouement. Maybe not for Jennifer Capriati because her life is already amazing at is. For Justine Henin and the Williams sisters, it'll be a pretty long time before people can put all their achievements together in a movie.

Please pick yours!

Justine Henin - she overcame so much so young, before her tennis 'glory'. Inspirational, I'm sure.

Monica Seles - she overcame so much so young, in the midst of her tennis 'glory'.

Any female tennis player from the late 1800s/early 1900s, simply to see how they were viewed by the 'man establishment' of the world.

It has to be Monica... from how she started hitting balls against the brick wall of the car park near her house in Yugoslavia? and how she went onto Bolleretti (however it's spelt) academy with all its controversy, her determination, her father's death, her mother's illness... and of cos the horrible ****bing... , how she started eating lotsof unhealthy food... her struggle to defeat her fear, etc etc etc how she bounced back to victory I think a movie on her would be very inspiring...

I think it could be difficult to make a movie about "tennis-star", you know, they have to find actor/actress who looks like this player etc ...

I think film about Jennifer could be interesting, and ofcourse about Monica.

Justine Henin, what I heard about her life, they could make a tv movie about it right away.

I think they should make a movie about wimbledon 99, a lot happened there, should be interesting

I think a movie about Alice Marble would be very interesting with her career interrupted by war as well as stories of her other contemporaries. Maybe also of Helen Wills Moody but I think hers might be a little dull

Modern times, obviously Jennifer Capriati, Monica Seles, Mary Pierce and the Williams sisters movie would be very very marketable.

Williams.... how they have managed to emerge from hitting balls at public courts while dodging bullets to winning slams! And Monica and Steffi of course Maybe the Evert-Martina rivalry as well!

i like to see a movie on many tennis players, but one i would definately like to see is amanda coetzer, who at the beggining of her career was labeled as nothing, and who was treated as loser by many pro's coaches and even friends and people she new. but she fought to overcome that and now she is one of thebest

the maleeva story
about how their mother faught during communism just to see them succed, how katerina almost died when she was 10, julia maleeva sacrisficed everything in her life just to see them succeed

Davenport
always made fun of, and expected to due the impossible, since her parents where both pros.
but she proved to everyone that she is a winner

sabatini
how she grew up in tough cercomstances but how she became the first galmour girl of the tour.

pierce
what a life..........

seles
trighmed over life.........

graf
remarcable life...............

chris evert

martina novratilova

billie-jean king

I think most players life stories could potentially make an interesting movie. However, the Williams sisters would be the safest bet as they're the most famous players on the planet.

Can someone explain to me why Mary Pierece's life would make a good movie? Her father was an ass yeah, but these days, that's a dime a dozen. Not trying to bash Mary or anything, but I don't see her story as movie material.

I would definitely watch a TV movie about Jennifer Capriati (not a cinema release though) just to see how they handle the whole marijuana and shoplifting part.

If I wanted to have a good cry perhaps the inspirational story of Monica Seles would do - poor beginnings, fantastic rise, dreadful event and then rising above it...even while her father was ill. Oh, I think I need some Kleenex now!

A movie about Justine Henin would have me in tears too. Because she's so quiet about her life I guess it would be sensationalized and inaccurate. And if you were producing/writing it you would probably have to throw out some of the tragedies because no one could believe that all that could happen to someone so young. Of course, she'd need a real life Slam title so the movie could end on a high note.

The Williams Sisters would be great too. Two girls "breaking the mold."

But on the other end of things I think I could do with a friendship story between Anna Kournikova and Martina Hingis. It wouldn't have to be tragic...possibly some great moments for lighthearted comedy in it. And, of course, guys would love it.
