rank pts. name

037 0816 Patty Schnyder
042 0761 Iva Majoli
060 0589 Alexandra Stevenson
072 0484 Anna Kournikova
131 0255 Mary Pierce

Four of those players are ex-top tenplayers, BTW. So there's no real upper limit for them.

If both Anna and Mary are healthy and fit I would choose both of them....so their tennis status is questionable right now. I would go with Patty as she seems to have gained her form again at Pattaya!

Kournikova of course... Mary Pierce won't return on her old level..the rest is just not good enough to get really high

I truly think Mary will be back and will hit her stride come Roland Garros and will maintain it with a win at the US Open.

ANA then IVA then Patty. I dont think mary would be higher than them in 2002. But who knows?

I think if Anna and Mary are playing healthy tennis then they will probably be most likely to end up ranked the highest, but I wouldn't necessarily count out Iva or even Patty. Iva played pretty good tennis from just before the US Open, through to the end of the year, and Patty despite very inconsistent results, did win in Pattaya at the end of the year, and against Henin at the US Open, I was really impressed with how well she hung in there and I think if she had more confidence from some of her better days, she'd have managed the upset.

I agree with Hurley. If Alex keeps up her conditioning and keeps playing the way she did at the end of last year, it could be her.

But if Mary is healthy then watch out.
