The top half has Amelie Serena Nadia Jelena.
Sveta has a good draw.
She's coming off a very tough week in Berlin. Almost a great week.

Jolly good show, Sveta making the final in Berlin. And good that she finally beat Justine, that should give her confidence. Pity that Ana was a bridge too far. Hopefully Sveta can get some rest over the next couple of days - chances are she won't have to play her first match in Rome till Wednesday. And we're all hoping, aren't we, that this week she'll go one better, and capture the Rome title. That would be oh so good. Could be playing Ana Ivanovic again in the quarters...

Sveta is supposed to be in Rome tomorrow for media day. She's scheduled in between Mauresmo and Jankovic.
At 12.00 there will be Serena Williams, 12:30 Amelie Mauresmo, 13.00 Svetlana Kuznetsova and last at 13.30 Jelena Jankovic...
Then she should get some sleep, rest up. She got 300 points in Berlin, and now trails the #2 by 500 points.
A big week here will have her right there, and Sharapova has a lot to defend the rest of the year.
After RG, Sveta doesn't have nearly as much to defend.

Sveta is in great form now. She just beat Nadia and Justine on red clay.
I think she'll be a force this week.

I guess Sveta is still tired after her exertions last week in Berlin, so no wonder Mara thought she had a chance of victory. I'm glad Sveta pulled it off in straight sets. I hope she's managed to rest a bit since Sunday.

Would be good if she does get to no. 2 soon - then she can start aiming at no. 1!!! Lots of points to defend at Roland Garros but then not so many after that as last year she lost QF Eastbourne and 3rd round Wimbledon (and then didn't compete for five weeks), so who knows....

If Sveta holds her current and stays healthy, she'll make a run for #1.

Number two seed Svetlana Kuznetsova took down Italy's Mara Santangelo 63 63 without excessive effort on Wednesday, setting up a third round clash with lucky loser Yuliana Fedak.
Russian Svetlana, who came runner up in the Berlin Open last week, looked solid from the baseline and expressed satisfaction with her form after the match.
"I'm playing some good tennis but I need time to rest as I have had some injuries," she said. "I will have to stay focused on every match."
In the first set she served two aces to lead 31. When her Italian opponent double faulted to 14 it looked as if the match would be a walkover, but Santagelo nevertheless managed to rally back to 43 by hitting the lines with a series of groundstrokes.
The story was similar in the second set. Kuznetsova, a player who has come a long way thanks more to hard work than natural talent, accelerated to 51 before Santagelo again managed a two-game rally thanks this time to some good serving.
The Russian finished the match with an ace and could meet Dinara Safina in the quarters.
