Watching figure skating, a bit amazed. Berezhnaya is skating after getting almost killed with open brain injury. Ponomaryova
from Uzbekhistan is skating with double-broken leg on these Olympics. If you'd remember that both Kournikova and Dementieva are something like 8 to 0 in retirements of their opponents in matches against their own retirements, and both have the matches won with severe injuries on their resume. It does look like a national pattern, doesn't it?

Ok Becca after reading it a few times I think I got it. But I think these are coincidences not some national pattern.

And how bout that Olympic gymnast that landed on one leg to win the gold.....ah, what's her name??? Kerry Strug? ;)

Seriously, Olga Korbut is my favorite Russian athlete of alltime. :)Wasn't she injured in the 1972 Olympics but still won three or four gold medals?
