I only ask this because im worried about her. Ive seen alot of her matches this year and Im not impressed. She reminds me of the kind of player that will constantly be ranked in the top 20 for years and years but will never really amount to anything big or be a heavy favorite in slams. Am I wrong? Does she have what it takes to be a future number 1 player? She reminds me a little of Dementieva, not so much how they play but how she squabbles easy matches. I dunno, its late and I may just be tired but thats just how I feel.

I don't like her nose. And to answer your questin; your analysis is spot on. She'll end up like a Patty Snyder, Franchesca Schiavone, Petrova, you know the type. A descent game all around, just could ever seem to put it all together at the right time to ever win one of the big ones.

She's a good player, but it's too early to say But why are you worried? I mean even being a top 20 is something the other thousands would like to achieve.

I saw her play in person at the US Open qualies and was surprised to see her rise as high as she has. She definitely works hard out there (clearly a fighter) but no big weapons really to make her a top contender.

Im worried because my intuition is always spot on. And my intuition is telling me that Cornet will be the Dementieva/Scnyder of the teens. And I wanna like her I really do, shes one of my new favs but..... I dunno

And I do agree about that nose. She kinda looks like a decendant of The Easter Rabbit.

Her game reminds me of Hingis. She doesn't have the "Big Babe" game to become a champion. Maybe 10 years ago. She seems like a good sport.

In my head the jury is still out on alize. I see the talent, i see the fight, but i also see insecurities. In her game and in her head. She's still young. She could be the type of player that either turns into a dementieva/schnyder because she doesn't get her head straight in big matches early on in her career OR does get her head straight and it stays that way turning in a very hard to beat person.

That's the first way of reasoning.

The second way is:

Cornet could be the first real modern surface specialist. Until now, on clay she's been a totally different player. You can see that by looking at her results on it, those are very good for an 18-year old. She could be the first out of a young crop of players and this new era in tennis that thrives on 1 surface.

Anyway, let's see what she does on the clay this year. If she can 'almost' beat top5 players on hardcourts she's gonna have her chances on the clay for sure. It should be entertaining.

I think she'll be a threat on clay for years to come. She should, anyway, bar any surprises. She's very impressive on that surface--her fairly weak, nimble game is amplified on clay and she looks much stronger in every department. The backhand is a great shot, but still needs work on the serve. Some of the matches she's lost this year question what I was sure she was developing last year, the champion mentality. I love her fight and determination, and above all else, that's the main thing she has going for her.

I like her. Sometimes I hate how passive she is and that she puts nothing on so many shots, but she's a joy to watch sometimes.

I don't like her but I don't know why. I hope she (along with other young guns) can become a great player for the sole reason that it would make for a higher quality WTA tour.

While I agree with your analysis, let me offer you two names to give you hope. Iva Majoli, and Anastasia Myskina. If she maximizes her talent, and a draw opens up, she could win a slam. But it's not going to be on overpowering athletic ability, or sheer firepower.

As for OP's call I think it's too early to predict anything. We just can state that she is a talented girl with relatively all-around game:)p), who perfoms on 'home' clay surface better that anywhere, but at the same time is a good contender on hard courts. At the moment she is rising up at rankings and in the game year-to-year(not many years she is a pro, right?), so why should we predict when will she stop? Maybe that #11 was career high or maybe we are talking now about the future world's no.1:p You might have a pleasure watching a star is rising, no need to be worry here.:D

To those, who tells she is only a claycourter: (I know it's tricky comparition, anyway) Rafito Nadal some years ago was known as only clay-court player and sucked 9 month per year without clay, and now he is defeating the best player ever played the game in a hardcourt major final. Why claycourter Alize can't go that way?:D (Almost a joke, but I believe in best)

To those, who talks about her nose: look at yourself before talking about other people looks. Have looked? Disappointed? I knew it. I am sorry.:D

I love her! :hearts:

Her game is so refreshing to watch. She is showing emotions on court and she is playing with a great determination in most of her matches.
She is really a fast improver and I can't wait to see what she does at Roland Garros this year. :)

She has proven more than once that she can do well at other surfaces than clay look at US Open, at Australian Open or Paris. She needs to improve her serve a bit and work on her physical conditions (sometimes she is out of breath after long rallies).
